Title: New Med Frova
Post by Wendy1 on Mar 27th, 2003, 9:50pm
I am back in a cycle after a 1-1/2 yr remission (it's been running 2 yrs!!  I've been cheated out of 6 mos! lol).

My doctor gave me a new med called 'Frova'.  First two times, it just made me sick.  Took it last night and today and it seemed to work.  Today it was within mins!?!  I'm still skeptical thinking, it must have been something else that took it away.

Has anyone else had experience with this one? (or have missed the talk about it).

I really didn't feel like I could ever make it through after my last cycle, but here it is again.  I HATE THESE THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boooo Hooooo!!!!!!

Makes me wonder about your Doc.

Well actually, are many of the medications (Imitrex, etc.) actually to treat 'Clusters'.  Most of the drugs out there Zomig, etc. are directed to treat Migraines.  Is there a drug out there that specifically targets 'Clusters', I do not know of one.

Imitrex, (the "Migraine" med), works for many of the clusterers'.  Hey, I'm going to get more Frova, if it works.  Just wondered if anyone else has tried it.

Just a note, Imitrex works MIRACLES for me, however I get rebounds from them.  Never had I had so many h/a in a day.

Have a great day. :)

Most all of the triptan meds will work on clusters.

Imitrex is the only one that has been tested on clusters and lists cluster treatment in it's literature.

I spoke with the Frova manufaturer last year.  They said they had no plans to test it on clusters.  I think this is another instance where they feel the patient group is not large enough to warrent the cost of testing.

When I hit up the Imitrex sales manager for a grant last year, he wasn't even aware that Imitrex was approved for clusters.

We are the forgotten/ignored few.
