I took 900mg/day for a couple of years.  When it quit working for me I just quit taking it at drs orders.  I had no problems going off of it either.

During a cycle, I take 3 x 300 mg per day. When it feels like a cycle is complete, the Dr. recommends tapering off. I usually go to 1 x 300 per day for a week and then 1 capsule every other day for a week.

The reason I do not go cold turkey is because if I guessed wrong and have to restart medication, it takes less time for the lithium effect to get back up to speed. According to my doctor, it takes about a full week for lithium to become effective once I start taking it.

;D ;D Your sfest bet is to consult the Doctor or check with a site like Healtsquarehttp://www.healthsquare.com/drugmain.htm they have pretty good information on all medications and you can get the answer from the Horses Mouth! Pappy
