Title: what Kip level do you wait for injection
Post by achinghead on Mar 21st, 2003, 2:52pm
What kip level do you wait before you finally decide to do the imitrex injecions? I try and wait til it reaches a 5 or 6. I recently started using the imitrex tip but only get 2 out of one injector instead of three. Maybe if I use 1/3rd of the injection instead of the 1/2 I should inject soon after the shadow starts. It usually only takes 10 mins to reach a 10 once my shadows appear. Any advice?

Before I started having success w/o2 this year I was a BIG fan of Imitrex (and still am) and I would always shoot away when I first started to feel it ramping up.

I've no advice.
I shoot my half dose at KIP 8. Fortunately (???) my beast grow from zero to 10 in minutes. If it's KIP 5 in the 10th minute it lasts KIP 5 til the end.

I'd like to shoot down my beast at KIP 5 but our hungarian insurance works on an other method. We don't get free Imitrex, we have to pay for each injection and it has cost me a fortune.

yeah.. im faced with the same situation as far as the ins. company goes.. THEY SUCK!!!!! I HATE EM!!! but unfortunately i still have to have the imitrex and it is costing a fortune. I just recently started the 1/2 shots and have lost a couple. Twice I didnt put the needle in far enough and watched the med run down my arm.. Once I put the needle in too far and had a nasty green bruize on my arm. Im starting to get a little better at it now but still not perfected. Thanks for the replies though

For some strange reason, I always wait on the shots till I'm well on the way to banging my head.  I think I may be hoping that it will voluntarily stop on its own, and I won't have to use up a shot.  By that point, it's around a 8-9.

At night, my husband will wake up before I do when I'm being hit.  He says I start moving and rocking in my sleep while it's cranking up.  He just grabs the shot, and hits me in the ass before I'm fully awake.  Works for me... ;D   Unfortunately, he's out of town frequently.

I always try feel them out, how bad they are going to be. On the KIP scale, would be 7 or 8. It takes about 20 minutes for the shot to take hold, thank god. Jeff.

During my last cycle I would wait until I was SURE it was going to be a big one, that way I would not waste any Trex. Having stocked up between cycles and educated myself on this site I intend to take less Trex earlier in the attack. If what I read is true I should live through it!

as soon as i know it's an attack and not a shadow. around a 5 i guess. i'm glad i started using 02 since my last cycle cause i went thru a ton of trex alot more than the recommended dose.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 ........Jack

I shoot my trex shot the minute I know it's a full fledge beast attack.........somehow you know....at least I do

Results in 5 minutes tops.

thanks to this place though.....I'm working on getting my doc to prescribe me some O2!!!!!  hopefully will be less need for the shots

Good luck,
