I got the machine back unrepaired and am currently at the upper management level and ready to kick ass and take names!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER buy a comcrap aka compaq laptop new. They are the worst piece of shit I've ever dealt with, hell my old TANDY worked better than this piece of shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I'm back online now, albeit as per the whim of the comcrap, but a new dell is en route and I will be a permanent pain in the ass once again :) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Now comes the task of catching up on everyone!!!!!! *hugs* Cat |

I've went thru shit with this new one...I jus don't think they make stuff like they used to......my opinion. This new one freezes up ALL DA DAM TIME....runs out of memory all da dam time and it's new...I restart and it is fine.....for a short while. Can't shut it off or it won't come back on and now the clock battery is goin lame on me. We couldn't get it to install correctly. Called up HP. Guess what? hp Pavilion doesn't support XP Pro. It only runs XP Home. Needless to say we are not very happy that the salesman lied to us. Now we have a network in our house with a docking station for my laptop and I cant run the operating system that should be on it. Sucks. Needless to say Best Buy has lost our future business. |

Sounds like a power supply to me too....Compaq's are prone to use junk power supplies. Karla, it is true HP will not support an OS upgrade under the factory warranty you should be able to make XP Pro work. It is easier to network than XP home is. That seems to be the biggest diffrence in the two, and price. As you have found out store salesmen are not always "well informed". It's been fine this week.....(am knockin on wood)....downloading seems ta muss it up after I've done it.....like screen savers or pics or sumthin.
