Title: ??? Xupiter virus.......... Post by Ree on Feb 18th, 2003, 11:38pm Ok I have a problem with the computer and Im not sure if its a virus... its called Xupiter... it presents itself like a homepage and keeps telling me I didnt install it properly... problem is I never installed it to begin with... It is taking over my computer and I have looked up some stuff on line that says its a virus... If anyone has dealt with this let me know... thanks Ree hi bill |

Xupiter needs to be removed..all traces of it. Then, You'll be back in Fat City. Yell if you need help,...or better yet..........ask somebody else that actually claims complete knowlege of the issue. I sprayed my stuff for it and it's sitting unchecked somewhere in tools. I never hear from it except when I get a "cannot find" thing. It shows up there but nowhere else. Post by Margi on Feb 19th, 2003, 10:11am I got hit with it, Ree - got it from sending out Valentines... :( It totally shut me down here, lost all connectivity to the internet. Norton doesn't recognize it as a virus but McAffee does and has a fix for it. Go to McAffee's site and print out the fix. It's quite the procedure to remove it, but you HAVE to remove it. It's an ugly one for sure. Email me if you need help, ok? |

Post by cootie on Feb 19th, 2003, 10:24am Ree here's a link for the free virus scan 'housecall' if you suspect a virus.....gotta click on for you country and then have it run the scan......then it will tell you what the virus is and give you links for the tools to get rid of them and expain the virus ect. I hope the link works if not I can send you it directly....good luck....it's prety cool to save and use from time to time. Lavasoft has just released a brand new version. Be sure it says build 162. It should. Run it once a week or so to keep your comp clean. FYI, If anyone here works for a company that uses GroupWise on Netware for email, there is a great anti-virus, anti-spam product on the market called GWAVA. My company uses it and we haven't gotten hit with viruses for over a year and our spam has been reduced by close to 100%. Unfortunately, it doesn't install on a desktop, but it sure works well. I think the company that makes it is called Beginfinite Inc. |
