Title: Late Night Beast
Post by parrothead on Feb 8th, 2003, 3:32am
I guess I'm the only one on line tonlght trying to delay the beast. I know it won't and can't happen, but sometimes I'm afraid to go to sleep. I know I'll either wake up in the middle of the night with the beast beating at my left eye and temple or I'll wake in the morning with shadow just waiting for me!

I know I should just go to bed. My wife wonders why I stay up really late at nights. I just tell her its because I'm not ready for bed. Which isn't really a lie. because I'm not!

She doesn't really understand CH, and part of that is my fault, I don't want her to worry. I downplay this "SHIT" to her constantly. Sometimes, I think people think that this is all just figment of my imagination. And I can't blaim them, up until 2 years ago before beast started on me. I myself, thought people with chronic headaches were just "freaks." I know better now!Even "meegraine" sufferers (as Jonny says) have my sympathy. I'd better stop the rambling and get my rearend to bed.

Well, maybe in a little while. :o

Solutations,
Parrothead(Mark B.)

Parrothead..

Sleep deprivasion and the "hiding"..  the hardest part of CH as far as I am concerned.. To choose between sleep and getting hit - knowing that you must sleep but that you will pay the price for doing so..

Nobody can ever fully understand that unless you have dealt with it - but try not to keep your wife out of it, the cost may be higher than you think. I've done that and lost - only because I feel like a fucking idiot when getting hit and because I don't want for others to worry about me..  It is so screwed up.

Hang in there ("stay strong" sounds pretty stupid so I wont say it)..

That is why it is so important to meet other clusterheads in person, Every time you meet a clusterhead its like meeting someone you have known your whole life but havent seen in awhile.

I can remember meeting my first clusterhead, it was truly awesome and ill never forget it. Since ive met over 50....some people may wonder why we call this a family, I know why!!

Hang in there, Mark

Mark,
Why not have her visit this site..let her start to understand....and the supporters site as well. She will be much more ready to help if she understands. Dont hide it from her, it may backfire and she may start to think you're hiding something more than clusters. Trust her to come here, learn & understand. Best to you and your wife.

Parrothead,

Unfortunately, you probably weren't the only one online last night....the late night beast seems to be on the prowl lately.  If you ever notice the times of some of the posts, you know that you aren't alone out there...even that can be a comfort at times.  I know my family, even though they try to understand  ch's, think the hours I keep are bizarre.  Sometimes to try to seem like a normal person...I'll go to bed with hubby, knowing I'm going to sneaking back out.....  It's just easier than explaining!   :)

Guide your wife over to the computer....let her read this thread....show her when some of the posts are written.....and then tell her what a warm and loveable group we are!!!      ;D :-* ;)

PFDAN,

Tracey

BTW...downplaying these things are fine.....but, not to the wife....she needs to know.

Parrothead,

You are not alone in not wanting to go to sleep.  Several people on here have said if they sleep in a recliner or propped up that it has helped them.  I went out and bought one of those really hard foam pillows and sleep with that my regular pillow under my shoulders and head.  Just that slight incline seems to help keep my nightly beast away.  Just something you may want to try.

Shit!!!    I've been out-of-cycle for 3 months now and I rarely sleep for more than a few hours.    ::)

Sleeping upright (recliner is best) is something I've been doing for years.  If possible, do it next to an open window... depending on how COLD it is.  For me, the colder the better.

just something that works for me,
PFDAN,
Grant

Me too Grant, I have both bedroom windows open during my cycle, no matter how cold, hubby has taken to sleeping in his air force cold weather gear LOL

THANKS GUYS!

I will introduce her to this site soon.

It's just nice to have you folks here to vent, and the forum to do so.

Having a Lovely Cycle!
