Sony is not an easy client to please.. I was working for a small company called Axiom Design at the time... Georgia... No the emmy was for something different... in 93/94 I hardly knew how to use a computer let alone do 3D on one... http://www.inovion.com/~reality/downloads/emmy_awward.gif That is a picture of the Emmy..... My real name is Ken Olsen.... I only worked in film for a little while.... After "The Stand" I should have gone to California. "The Stand" was filmed all in Utah except for a few shots in Las Vegas and a few back east. My downfall was I took my wife to Cast and Crew party! They had them every week. My wife is very religious and very conservative! Think Utah and you can guess from there.... Well she met some cool people, but everything and anything happens at these parties... Some cute girl that was an extra on the shoot wants to break into hollywood. some will do whatever, and at these parties you just don't go poking around opening doors. There was cocaine there was everything.. Pot was everywhere.. my wife got a small little contact high and she hated the whole thing. After that she wanted nothing to do with the film scene. I was young, and should have said no if you want to stay, then stay... But But But... Big buts...... So I changed careers and went into graphics. I was a damn good makeup artist though... It was funny when people would come in to get their make-up on for the first time to meet me. I am 6'2" 230 and have a very deep voice and have a beard... they looked around and then back at me with a blank look... And I would tell them... Yeeesss I am the make-up artist. Camile Calvet was my boss on the shoot she was Key Make-up she is the one listed on the credits... I an two other people made up her team. She moved on to Star Trek Deep Space 9 you can see her credits there all the time... and on some of the movies.. Neet gal... She invited me down to the studios a few times... got the un-oficial tour of the deep space 9 set... I have a daughter named Kira--- after Guess who... Majr Kira on Deep Space 9. I like the name... I told Camille and she was Nana's (major kira's) make-up artist.... Nana sent a bunch signed stuff for Kira... Nana loved it... |

There was a lot of politcal BullShit that happened... First the Unions told the crews that they weren't making enough on the shoot.... and eventually the Unions said to strike... Well Duh... Utah is a right to work state... Stike all you want..... The production company brought in a new crew... I was not Union, but Camille asked me not to cross the picket line as friend... I told her i would not.. There was not that much time left on the shoot anyway. Those of us who did not cross on the Make-up are the ones who were given emmy's. those who crossed.... Well Hollywood is a Union town.... and they make up the rules for the awards... There are 2 people that stabbed me in the back on the set when the strike thing happened.... So there are some bad memories attached to it that is why I have not seen it.. I have read the book a couple of times... I can tell you about the some of the people if you want |

But it really was a "good" movie and I knew every character that came on screen cuz of how well they matched them with the books descritions (and it was a long long book). That is t-totally cool......wow.....I'm impressed !!! Pam (honk honk) ;D |

The movie the stand was ok, it was way long and alot left out from the book in my opinion. As for Crash, I have all the games, haven't beat the new one for PS2 yet though. OH and if you come to the convention, I'm gonna have to hurt you for the ice thing. That is one tough area to navigate!!!!!!!!! You are just amazing. I hope you keep up with it somehow. The make-up that I did and what we won the emmys for was the boring side. Not the special FX make-up. It was the make-sure they look good on Camera make-up! I can do special fx but they had a whole different team for that, which included body dummies etc... |
