Title: WILL THEY EVER GO AWAY???
Post by JesseWallis on Jan 29th, 2003, 3:54pm
I was just diagnosed today with cluster headaches, although I'm scheduled for an MRI and MRA on Friday.  I've had them daily now for the past 3 weeks, mostly occuring about 2 a.m.  The last time I recall having such severe headaches was about 4 years ago when they lasted daily for about a month.  I had a CAT scan performed and nothing was found.

I was doing research to learn more about this problem, and found your site.  I have to say, it's extremely helpful and informative.  I can relate to the testimonials on your site, and after reading something about the problem, it was practcially dead on point.

My questions are as follows:  Is there a point when the headaches will just stop and never come back?  I'm 29 years old presently.  I've tried to figure out what triggers them, but can't think of anything significant happening in my life right now.  My last episode was 3 hours long, the longest I've ever had.  Is there anything that triggers them to last longer than others?

Thanks for any info.

Some neuroes"clowns"tell us that this might vanished when we are grownups/adults.

The question then is: :) ;D 8) ???

Whats the definition of an adult or grownup?

Our friend Charlie on this message board is older than dirt, and his went away 12 years ago.  He gives the rest of us hope.     I just can't wait to be older than dirt!!!!

(sorry Charlie.  The devil made me say it)

I've had them for 21 years now, usually right on time each year but I have not yet reached the "old as dirt" age so gonna wait a few years and see what happens. LOL  (sorry Charlie)  ;)

Obviously....I haven't reached adulthood yet.  Since mine didn't start till I was 43.......I'm not real sure when puberty is going to hit.   ;D

So far, I haven't found a trigger.

Good Luck.....and welcome,

Tracey

triggers-MSG's!!!!! You need to check all labels carefully, they are found in everything
             YELLOW #5
              BEER
              NITRATES
               CHOCOLATE
               AGED CHEESES- like parmesan
These are the ones that always cause my headache.
- still discovering new triggers like TYRAMINE
But, the blue sky or the green grass can set off a headache, somedays there just aren't any clear cut and easy answers.  Good Luck

Welcome Jesse, I was told by a Neuro when I was in my late 20's that I would outgrow them, I'm now 42. Beer is an instant trigger for me. If my attacks are low enough where I can sit still hot things help. At the company Christmas party I drank about 5  screw drivers, the next day went well, 2 and 3 days later things weren't so good. Anyway welcome aboard and grab an oar.

New to the group, been suffering for 15 years and thought I had it beat and had got use to the pain.
That was until 2 nights ago - 2 Belters in a night that lasted over an hour each. Give me back the fifteen minute bursts.

My dad's CH went away when he was about 55 after suffering his entire life. He is 72 now and has no attacks. So, sorry to say you have about another 30 years to look forward to. God willing.

The only reason I am up is because I let my Depakote level slip a little the past two days and I had an attack earlier. Only a 7.....just another 11 years for me? That is an eternity in CH years.

sorry to tell you but ones they come around it is very unlikely that they will go away. they might leave for extended periods of time, but then again they might not. they have been attacking me for 27yrs sometimes for months, some for years. living with them is not easy but keep thinking that they will go away again, will give you the most strenght. thinking of what might be causing them is almost a never ending thought, that most of us do. it is more something to blaim it on, than really knowing what the real cause is.I am almost afraid to say that mine have finally stopped after starting september 2001 but some how they just start and they just dissapear. pain free with only the occasional flashes for 10 days just hope it continues. have faith my thoughts are with all sufferers .
