Title: The time to run out of O2 Post by catlind on Jan 3rd, 2003, 2:42pm is NOT as you are facing a kip 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Egads, what a nightmare that was. Felt it coming, hit the tank, and discovered that the gauge lied, I no longer had 500psi left, I had NOTHING. Man oh man, I did some serious dancin and headbangin. Thankfully the local ER knows me and doesn't ask too many questions when I show up, they just gimme my icepacks and O2 at whatever lpm's I want. It has been a LOOOOOOONG time since I've had a 10 and man what a wake up call. I will have to be much more vigilant in the future. Also, I discovered today, that doing aerobic activity is NOT a good way to cope for me. Here I thought I'd do the jumping jack thing in the form of running on my treadmill. I was informed today in the ER by the doc, that after speaking to my cardio, I compounded my headache instead of helping it. Apparently because my ticker produces oxygen poor blood, exercise sends all the O2 to the muscles, depleting the head even further. Geeez that would have been nice to know BEFORE I ran myself into the ground. Ah well, lesson learned. Note to anyone who has a heart problem that involves them producing oxygen poor blood - EXERCISE WON'T HELP. Cat |

Title: Re: The time to run out of O2 Post by catlind on Jan 4th, 2003, 8:37am Jonny it wasn't your reg. If it had been I'd have known that I didn't have enough O2 left. The last tank they brought me had a good regulator on it so I just left it on it. Silly stupid kitty cat!!! Note to all: Jonny's regs work and STAY working. I think my first hint should have been all the rust around the top of the tank ::) Ah well, if yer gonna be stupid ya gotta be tough...guess I'm not tough enough yet ;) LOL Domm, I've been through all the meds out there that I can take safely with my ticker. 'shrooms would be a welcome option, except hubby is active duty AF and I don't have my US citizenship yet, so I'm not gonna do anything that might mess either of those things up. Cat |

Title: Re: The time to run out of O2 Post by catlind on Jan 6th, 2003, 11:58am aRgh I keep trying to post and my machine is locking up on me. That's what you get with a comcrap! Once again, Thanks everyone for the well wishes, and as Jonny pointed out to me after I sent him a pic of the rusted tank, he told me he wouldn't accept a tank like that into his welding shop let alone for medical O2. I had a chat with the guy when he brought my replacement tank, and he assured me it would be looked into...yeah right, I'll make sure it gets looked into myself! First thing I did was to replace their regulator with the one Jonny made me, so I KNOW it will work! I've been having some Network probs, so my online time is limited it seems. Time for another reformat methinks. Damn trojans. Cat |
