Title: Where's Karla? Post by tedski on Dec 11th, 2002, 7:01pm :'( I'm sorry to say but I've been a bad husband. KARLA --> >:( I haven't reported to all of her dear cyberfriends that she went in for emergency back surgery last Saturday. She is doing fine now and will be home tomorrow but there were some complications that prevented her from being home sooner. She probably told some of you about the numness, pain and paralysis she was having in her left leg well she had a pinch nerve in her lower back and the surgery fix that. I'm sorry I didn't get this out here sooner but I've been trying to do her jobs around here also and visiting her has kept me very busy. Thank you for all of your care and concerns even if you didn't know where she was. |

Title: Re: Where's Karla? Post by SFChris on Dec 12th, 2002, 10:53am Get well soon Karla! I had a similar surgery two years ago. First, I had a surgery to remove a herniated disc, but later needed the second surgery to remove the part of another disc that blocked a nerve. The second surgery bought immediate relief. It will be very important to start walking (2-4 miles a day) right away, every day. You will heal much more quickly with far fewer complications. It will help prevent scar tissue from developing, which can cause additional damage and lessen your mobility. Good luck. Chris |

Title: Re: Where's Karla? Post by Karla on Dec 13th, 2002, 7:43pm Hello All!! Thanks for all your notes and prayers and thoughts. I was in the hopspital way to long. Normally 2 days me 7 days. I see the dr on Mon. to have the stapples out. Fun! Not!! Hopefully, I will find out why my left leg doesn't' work. It is not fun using a walker when you don't have have any musle. I wish I had Jonnie's muscles. I have been very gratefull for one thing through all this. The methadone I started taking a few weeks back has left me majoryly pain free!! No headaches or shaddows! Hurray! and a happy dance to from me to you. |

Title: Re: Where's Karla? Post by domm on Dec 13th, 2002, 8:01pm Karla - welcome back and I am sure you will have a complete recovery. ;D I had two ruptured disks repaired in '96 and I remember the pain and recovery all too well. But the choice was "walk or don't walk". Didn't take much thinking. Here's hoping you and your family have a great Christmas domm |
