You're sumpin' So now that the fence is up and you're working on the pump house, when are you starting on the guard towers? If you need help with stocking the moat, let us know. Title: Re: update! Post by Cathi on Dec 10th, 2002, 12:24am Yeahhh, but, Cathy wants to know- WHAT'S A PUMP HOUSE??? Most residences receive water by way of a public water service- pipes in the street, providing water for household use. SOME areas, generally somewhat rural, have no public water, so, on each building site, or sometimes shared by several homeowners, a well is dug, and a holding tank & pump are installed. The pump house is a small structure to protect the pump and its electric service.....so, the house has water!!! 'Course, sometimes the pump dies, then you get no water...and you wish you had public water, cause the pump repair guy is expensive...and he probably told you ya had a virtual artesian well on the property.........ooops, I think I'm ranting..... ??? Does that explain it, Cathy? Where does water come from across the pond? (I'm in Oregon- plenty of water comes right outta the sky.....) Cathi ;D |
Title: Re: update! Post by cerebus on Dec 10th, 2002, 12:54am uhhh.....can you say ....OVERACHEIVER? dang, Elaine.....take a break, Im happy you are PF and getting something done ,but rest a while will ya? good job and congrats! Cerebus |
Title: Re: update! Post by Ann on Dec 10th, 2002, 8:56am Thanks for the explanation Cathi! I was stumped there for a minute. Now I'll go to sleep tonight less ignorant! ;D I've never seen a pump house. Here, in rural areas, the pump is usually in the house itself...at least I think? LOL It gets so darn cold that it can't be in a separte place....the pipes would freeze! ;D hugs Ann |
Title: Re: update! Post by Elaine on Dec 10th, 2002, 9:33am Ann this is what a pump house looks like http://www.public.iastate.edu/~mwps_dis/mwps_web/ms_plans.html#Anchor74001 Charlie, I had not thought about that moat but thats a good idea bet those pitbulls out there couldn't get across :-) |

Title: Re: update! Post by Riccardo on Dec 10th, 2002, 9:47am AHEM! .... thanks Cathi and Elaine.......... ....here in Italy a pump is also another thing... and a pump house could sound like a oooopsss a blow-j.. house...... ;D ;D ;D And I thought that Elaine, despite I call her MyLady...... would not be called ....ehm .... Maitresse...... Ciao Mylady. (BTW, could you give me your new address and phone #, please? Thanks, kisses to Deveny and you....handshakes to Buddy ;D) |
Title: Re: update! Post by Cathi on Dec 10th, 2002, 10:17am Ann & Suzy- Sorry! That explanation was for you-and Ann- you're right- the pump must be kept warm enough to keep the pipes from freezing- hence the house- it is somewhat insulated- and ours has a trickle heater on it in the winter- don't really want to shower with ice chunks! Cathy- Sorry- I guess I just wanted to chat with my alter-ego across the pond! Riccardo-LOLOLOL!!! Don't EVEN want to go there!! I'll be REALLY careful with those I discuss my pump situation- believe me!! Elaine, take care of yourself-it'll all get done. Cathi |
Title: Re: update! Post by Riccardo on Dec 10th, 2002, 10:23am ....your pump situation?!? doesn't situation also means position in English? ......... hmmmmmm..... OK don't mind ...... we in Italy say "A pig cannot become old, but an old man become always a pig...." ::) Ciao Cathi |
Title: Re: update! Post by Cathi on Dec 10th, 2002, 10:50am Riccardo- Okay, okay-I'm laughing! How about if I say predicament- would that cause your Italian/English translation to go haywire, too?? ;D Thanks for the laugh, Riccardo- Ciao-and BTW- stateside, THAT means dinner is ready!!! Cathi ;D |
Title: Re: update! Post by Riccardo on Dec 10th, 2002, 10:56am Sure I do....... Isn't predicament also a HARD condition ?!? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D OK now is better to stop...... |
