Is the meeting still on for this sunday ???

Yes.

Ventura, El Torrito restaurant, Sunday, December 8, 1:00 PM.

I think the address is 770 S. Seaward.  It's right at the Seaward Ave offramp from Hwy 101, on the east side of the highway.

We're hoping to apply for chapter recognition Sunday evening.

I think we've got about 15 or so coming.  We'll eat lunch and take care of all the particulars we need to qualify for chapter status.

BTW - We've already got a web site running but we won't publicize it till we get official recognition.

Hope to see all you CalClusterheads there.

I can't make the trip down south tomorrow (I have to go to Portland on Monday/Tuesday), but I have another possible alternative.  DJ is coming to the Bay Area today, and several of us will be meeting him for a beer (one beer? I doubt it!) some night this week.  If you are anywhere near the Bay Area, and want to get together with DJ, please e-mail me.

We're off and running.

The CalClusterheads met today in Ventura:
Bob and Sarah P
Marc
Lenny
Bob
Frank

The Officers were selected and an application submitted to OUCH for recognition as a legit chapter.  The first!

Unfortunately Marty, the guy who organized the thing, didn't make it.  Seems his AmTrak hit someone on the trip north and delayed him 4 hours.  Don't know if I feel worse for Marty or the guy who was hit by the train.

Got some real go getter officers.  Should make things happen for all us cheads in LALA land.

Congrats guys! An awesome thing that you have going there!

Makes me wish that I wasn't on the other end of the country... :-/

  Good work and good luck!

  Poor Marty...geesh.. ::)

Wonderful news!!  Good for you.

You know, I've wanted to do the Chaper thing for over a year now.

I want to hear from people on the Southern East Coast who are interested.  We need to get one going in this area too.  In my opinion, it's the THING that's going to make OUCH grow into what we need it to be.  What do you think?

Please e-mail me!

Talk about a frustrating day..  I had waited for so long for this to actually take place and when it finally did, I was the one not to show up :-[

But, nevertheless, Bob Pahlow - thank you for keeping things together and getting it done.

Bob Jones, Marc & Frank - together with all the active CH'rs in CA, we will make an awsome team!

Jill & Donna - Thank you for your kind words.

Donna, you might want to start a new thread with your suggestion for a Southern East Coast Chapter. I have feeling that some on the east coast may not read this thread and that you will reach more by a new post.

Thank you all

Marty

Marty..we ARE reading this on the East Coast. And probably across the pond as well.  Contrary to popular West Coast Beliefs, the world _ISN'T_ flat on the other side of the San Andreas fault (chortle). Sorry your train had to meet Darwin's Choice of the Week. Timing is everything, eh?

Now that there's going to be an OUCH-Cal,  what exactly are you folks going to do with it? Mass mailings to Cal doctors? Lobbying the state medical board? Chase the remaining "Onion Heads" out of the airport terminals and solicit funds?

In all seriousness, what's your next step now that you guys/gals have a shingle to hang out on the front lawn? Would be most interested in East Coast chapter........ but would like to know what hands on, "ad-practicum" plans you have.
Congrats again on pulling together a cohesive unit.

Victory or Death!

A lot of credit must go to Donna.  She's the one who has been pushing chapters on the OUCH Business Board.

Good luck to you on an east coast chapter.  I'm sure Marty will share the success and failures that we experience along the way.

Thanks for the good wishes, Bob.

Marty and I have been in touch and we've shared some  good ideas already.

There is so much a Chapter can offer on a local level.  The ideas are just pouring out.  Now we need people to come together and sort them out with us.

We have many people here, and if 25% would get involved, we'd really make some headway.  It's time to put forth the effort to become a loud voice that refuses to be ignored.

And Martin..........thanks for coming forward and offering your help...........we'll surely need it.

Your guys/gals are the ones testing the waters for all of the rest of us and charting a map for us.  Thanks for being the lab rats......oops......maybe I should say "explorers".

And Bob......what a web site!!  My vote would be to follow your design.  Very professional, and pleasing to the eye.

Mr Happy,
I'm thinking like you... I don't know a damn thing about this kinda stuff, but I'm rather interested.  If I'm not mistaken, you are in my region... SE Pa.  I've been looking over the info about local chapters on the OUCH site.  I envision that a
Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Maryland/Delaware chapter would be convenient... the only far flung area of such a chapter would be western PA, and I'm familiar with northern NJ because it's my old stomping grounds.  Perhaps we should gauge the level of interest in such a chapter?  I'm willing to join forces with you to learn about how this should be done.  What do ya think?
