Title: new on clusterheadaches Post by netniet on Nov 23rd, 2002, 12:15pm First of all it's very hard for me to expres my feelings in english (I,m dutch so don't mind the mistakes). For over 4 years i have cluster. My first doctor didn't care, he sad come back sometime en we talk about your headaches (talk :o, I didn't want to talk I needed help!!!) So almost 4 years I struggeld allone with no medication, nothing. Friends I told all said "I have headaches too" and they where right, how can you explain something you can't discribe ???. How do we describe this pain. There were times I had too get my son from his school (I was a single mother then) when i had this terrible pain. the other mothers must thought that I was loosing it. I couldn't work, my study, everything went wrong. There where day's that I wanted to jump out of my window (I live on the 4th floor). I did't want to sleep, cause this pain wake me every night... Anyway you all now what it is. Now its getting better I have a verry good docter I'm getting Imitrex injections and nasalspray. I still have this terrible pains but not as often as I was used too. But still at least 4 times a week almost always in the evening or at night I'm working again my study go's well. When I read the stories of the people in the USA I think I'm better of because my insurens? will cover my medication. With all the pain, I don't have to worry about that. Netniet |

Title: Re: new on clusterheadaches Post by domm on Nov 23rd, 2002, 12:46pm Net - welcome to the board, but I am sorry you are in pain. Glad you found a good doc. You didn't mention Oxygen. When used properly, this is a very powerful abortive that works for many (but not all). Read up on it here. Also, you didn't mention any preventatives. Many of us have found relief with Verapamil. Read through everything here and on the OUCH site (buttons on the left) You will then know more than most doctors. Hope the beasts visit is a short one. domm |

Title: Re: new on clusterheadaches Post by Charlie on Nov 24th, 2002, 2:17am Welcome to our little corner of the world of pain. Too bad this place is so crowded. Anyway, your English is excellent and you'll find you're not alone. I'm fairly sure one of our Ducth members will answer as well. We know exactly what this is like and if you stay here and read some of the ideas, you'll likely find something to help you in some fashion. Stick around. Charlie |

Title: Re: new on clusterheadaches Post by tommyD on Nov 24th, 2002, 9:46am Welcome! You are lucky to live in the Netherlands. First, there is a cluster headache website at: http://www.clubs.nl/community/default.asp?clubid=13181 And, in the Netherlands, what we call the "shroom treatment" is legal. This can work very well, but there is much to learn first. Start here: http://home.attbi.com/~rwold350/ and http://www.geocities.com/ClusterBusters2002/ -tommyD |
