Since I typically get my attacks on the right side, I was wondering about this. Today, I'm feeling fine and sitting at work just putzing along, when, out of nowhere, the effer comes and gets me right behind my left eye. My question is... how common - or uncommon - is it for pain to flip sides? It doesn't happen often for me - maybe once a month, if that - and it's quite rare I would think.

not rare at all Maggie, mine is alway's the right side,but look at recent posts and you'll find a thread that deals with yer question. ...........2late

23 yrs in the left eye and "BAM" in the right eye.

I had never had one "flip sides" before but a couple of weeks ago I started to get some shadows and they was on the other side!

I have only had 2 episodes in my life-but first it was the left side, now its the right? Go figure-

My first 3 weeks (shadows only) were only on left. Then when the big boys came, they moved over to the right and stayed there.

My last 2 cycles were identical..... 3months left. one week of PF, leading me to believe the cycle was over... only to start up on the right side for another 3 months... :-/ 1 1/2 years in between them...go figure..

Hi Maggie,

Once about three years ago I started a new preventive med (depakote) and the next three or four headaches hit on the opposite (left) side! Then they went back to normal (right) side at lower intensity and have stayed there ever since.

One flip-flop in about 20 years of episodes....
