Title: Questions Post by SommelierCH on Nov 19th, 2002, 6:13am ASPIRIN—We know it doesn’t help, but can it hurt? It has so many different properties (blood thinning etc.). Is it something people should be warned about? OXYGEN—Has anyone had success with it as a preventive, such as dosing up right before bed? Some of us might want to give that a try, but I know that I’m riding the fence edge right now and I wouldn’t want it to lose it’s effectiveness since I will need it in 2 hours. TURKEY, TRYPTOPHAN, SEROTONIN—With Thanksgiving coming up, and turkey being loaded with the Serotonin precursor, Tryptophan, is there any connection at all that we should know about? Thanks, David J. |

Title: Re: Questions Post by Bob P on Nov 19th, 2002, 8:31am Asprin - can hurt. About 15 years ago, I was taking 3 asprin every 3 hours as a "little helper" with a cluster bout. I blew the biggest hole in my duodenum. Hoarkin' up blood all over the place. I tried taking 5-HTP supplements as a preventative. I don't think it did squat. My personal feeling is that it's not that we don't have enough 5HT but that the system that regulates it is whakco. The water is in the hose but there's nobody to open the nozzle. Oxygen - Michael Jackson sleeps in an oxygen tent and he doesn't get clusters. Proof enough for ya? |

Title: Re: Questions Post by Mr.Happy on Nov 19th, 2002, 9:01am ASPIRIN— Excellent stuff. Just got another 1,000 ct tub. Every time I get that "Familiar" chest pain, I can pop two and know that the old ticker is good for another 100 miles and pack of smokes. Cheap, too. Doesn't do squat for CH, but what's a few more pills at this point??? OXYGEN— Just got my first bottle yesterday, and I have to admit, it really IS effective for me. Stopped the old Pre-Party Tingle dead in it's tracks every time, but I find the 680 liter bottle is a little small. It's a drag having to leave the house every other day. TURKEY, TRYPTOPHAN, SEROTONIN— Turkey is the only one I'm familiar with here, and I'm still upset at our forefathers choice of animal protein for that _Festive Day_. If they'd only shot a cat for the big meal, I'd own one of those funny hats......and a Blunderbuss as well. Ah well, a card laid is a card played....... |

Title: Re: Questions Post by RevDeFord on Nov 19th, 2002, 2:03pm I tried to eat alot of turkey when I first started with CH, knowing that the chemicals in it was the answer to this cluster nightmare. I had researched alot of medical journals and they all said how effective eating this form of poultry is for treating neurological diseases. Alas after eating approximately 32 1/2 birds my first 2 weeks with CH, I made the determination that in fact all that I had ever heard about turkeys and their homeopathic properties were totally bunk. All it did was make me want to go to sleep. And of course I plumped up like a butterball. I still love to eat turkey, and my lawsuit against the Americans for Turkey Homeopathy Institute has not deterred my liking of such a great delicacy. ;D |

Title: Re: Questions Post by cerebus on Nov 19th, 2002, 10:53pm Asprin ...at last I read has an "LD50" rating of about 50 or so...meaning that you can take 50 times the recomended dosage before it kills you. (Don't quote me on this..death by asprin is not to be toyed with) at high levels it can cause kidney and /or liver failure and at the least cause you to need dialysis for the rest of your life. I suggest sticking to the recommened dosages which COULD possibly help (not likely). Oxygen, again , is not to be toyed with too much, yeah It can ease your pain a great deal but can also cause serious medical problems if misused, a good idea to limit its use to an as needed basis. Turkey is another story, I have never heard of anyone O.D. ing on turkey eat as much as you like and let us know how it turns out for ya, I know I will be as I recently wondered the same thing myself. I would highly doubt its clinical effects on CH pain, but, hell its worth a shot in the dark. Cerebus |
