Title: wife of cluster sufferer
Post by jalbertzoo on Nov 16th, 2002, 7:39am
Hi everyone, I'm new. My husband was diagnosed many years ago and has been able to hold these headaches at bay it seems.  He can tell they are coming because his teeth freeze first.  At this first sign he takes 2 tylonal 3s and goes to bed.  If he doesn't catch it it's awful.  I am not convinced they are cluster heaedaches.  He seems to have alot of the symptoms:  always left side of face , numbness. sinus like problems in the nose, has to be in the quiet and dark, can't keep still, has banged his head on floor on occasion, but if he doesn't catch it at the beginning it last's for hours sometimes days.  I feel so helpless.  Actually he's in the middle of a long and painfull one now and I am at a loss for what to do for him.  The left side of his face is swelled almost like he has an absessed tooth, yet his gums are not swelled and don't hurt.  He has an appointment with our dentist on Monday just to be sure but he's convinced it's the cluster headache.  Any ideas and suggestions for this  frustrated wife.  Thanks....we are from Northern Ontario, Canada ???

Hi Jalbertzoo,

My husband is a clusterhead.  Some of the symptoms you describe sound like clusters.... most do not.
I suggesst you read the buttons on the left and have him take the cluster quiz.

Good luck,

Clusters do not last for days or even half days.

Hopefully this link will help you and your husband.

Clusters last for at most a few hours. They often repeat several times a day and last for weeks or months and disappear for a time.  Banging ones head or other trauma may account for bruising. Clusters wake one up. It's the first thing I ask.

Tell us a little more. If it's clusters, you will find some help here.  Stick around

Hi Really sorry to hear of your husbands pain. And I'm
sure your pain is deep as well. I agree with Jackies post.
But clusters cannot be ruled out. But, I would think from
your decription another illness maybe acompanying the
cluster. You will have to seek Medicial advice.
