Title: Urgent question Post by WendyHowe on Nov 14th, 2002, 5:39pm Sorry everyone. My last message was too rambly. I am a new sufferer and cannot imagine living life with what you all go through. Urgent question as I am seeing the Doctor tomorrow morning UK time. What should I say, what should I ask for as a first try treatment. How will I convince her that this is NOT more of the migraine she has been treating me for with Zomig. How can I please please never have this happen to me again as my life has been destroyed for the last two weeks and I don't dare even lie down and go to sleep any more. Wendy |

Title: Re: Urgent question Post by eyes_afire on Nov 14th, 2002, 5:48pm Hi Wendy. My advice is to research this site and print out info to take to your doc. Make sure you really have clusterheadaches before taking clusterheadache meds. You don't want to be taking clusterheadache medicine if you don't have to. If you really do have clusterheadaches, IMHO verapamil is an excellent first choice preventative and oxygen is an excellent first choice abortive. Both can be very effective for clusterheadaches and aren't likely to cause as many side effects as most of the other clusterheadache medicines. Research this site, use the search button at the top and try to learn as much as you can before you go to the doc. This site is LOADED with info, check it out! |

Title: Re: Urgent question Post by WendyHowe on Nov 14th, 2002, 5:54pm Thank you to all of you who are sending me good advice. It seems to me that the symptoms are so very specific, so very unlike any other kind of 'headache' (pathetic word to describe this) that I cannot see how it could be anything else. Thank you again everyone. I will keep reading but I've never used a site like this before so may be sending messages to all the wrong places. |

Title: Re: Urgent question Post by WendyHowe on Nov 15th, 2002, 8:24am Doctor says it is my migraine taking a new form. I am unconvinced as the pattern is exactly that of cluster headaches (woken from sleep by agonising pain, weeping eye problems, two or three in a day etc etc etc) She has prescribed anti-serotonin medication so I will have to see if this works. She has also prescribed Brufen powders which I can't see the point of as no normal pain medication touches the pain (Zomig works sometimes) |
