Title: Ice Chewers? Post by spaceman on Nov 13th, 2002, 5:13pm I've found over the years that one of the first things I do when I get hit with a CH is reach for a large cup of ice to chew on. I don't find much relief putting it on my eye or head, but chewing on it seems to help calm down my totally inflamed left side of my head. Anyone else do this? ;D Andy |

I just put it where it hurts or think it will kill the pain but never chew it, I was never able to to that....To me thats almost as bad as CH......LOL ........................jonny |

Title: Re: Ice Chewers? Post by Charlie on Nov 13th, 2002, 5:52pm You know, that sounds pretty harmless but damn cold. Maybe it works to some degree. If so, great. I do enjoy chewing the ice in the bottom of a high ball. Somehow things seem different after a few. :D Charlie |

Title: Re: Ice Chewers? Post by 7upatnight on Nov 13th, 2002, 5:59pm You might think I am crazy but I can identify with your ice. Here is another odd thing that works for me. You know the headache that you get when you drink a cold drink/shake to fast (i.e. Ice Headache). When I have a CH in the middle of the night, left hemisphere of the brain, I intentionally try to give myself an Ice headache. Miraculously, I don't get an Ice Headache, but my CH does begin to go away. I happened upon this totally by accident last week. I still take meds too. I thought about sharing this info on this site but thought people would think I was crazy. 7upatnight |

Title: Re: Ice Chewers? Post by cerebus1968 on Nov 13th, 2002, 10:13pm ; :o Good Gawd Man! :o Chewing on ice would send me through the roof! It's Heat that helps me. Ever since the Headaches started three years ago I haven't been able to stand the cold! The shakes I get when having a cluster is the closest I want to get to shivering. Of course a little meat on my bones wouldn't hurt either. steaming HOT damp towel to the back of my head an the right side of my face, being cold in general has triggered a response in me more often than heat but if i get too hot they come as well. Title: Re: Ice Chewers? Post by BobG on Nov 14th, 2002, 4:56am I've used this ice remedy. When ever the pain would approach the kip 6 or 7 mark my teeth would be starting to hurt. I just bite on an ice cube until the pain from the cold overcomes the pain from the cluster attack. |

Title: Re: Ice Chewers? Post by woobie on Nov 14th, 2002, 8:14am I can confirm that.. I just got back from the bayou. They DO all ice their beer.. and when you order it.. it comes that way in some places!! And they do have the nicest people in the world down there. Everyone has that southern cajun hospitality. I enjoyed it and the only reason I wanted to leave was the HEAT... OMG.. you could cut the humidity with a knife down there.. I don't know how you breathe. It sure is a far cry from Chicagoland!!! Ramon already answered the ice question... i just wanted to add my 2 cents about that. Tina :P |
