You have clusters for years, you come to your computer and you put in clusters and you find PEOPLE who have them. I am sure if you was like me you never dreamed of finding anything but information. OK so now you have found these people. You are sitting there crying cause your happy your no longer alone. You have people who understand you. One of your post is. I am at the end of my rope????? Why wouldn't you post oh man I am not alone ect...and be happy you found someone?

The other thing that gets me is just about every new person knows what the kip scale is...why is it thats the only thing they read before they post ?

Wondering minds want to know!

I got all but a little of my packing done :-)!

Now I am just waiting for the word for us to move looks like it will hit Thanks giving or the first of Dec.

Think you could come down here and hurry these people up for me Jonny :-)!

I took today off and yesterday and am being lazy.

I could not say for sure, They are studying similar issues
as we speak. " End of your rope" Thats common of A
MB of this type. People are looking for compasion, They
are hurting. "I'm not alone" Probably the second most
popular Issue I've read here. Most find comfort when
finding they are not alone, and voice it. I know its not much help to you, I've tryed to read the books. Tough
to read the syudy of human nature.

For me the kip scale was the fifth thing I read, The fifth button down the line. That is an easy question, Suffers
are always trying to put A value or grade on the level of pain. and feel this is very inportant infomation for the
docs. Plus it stays with you and easy to relate to.
What about yourself is this the information that stay
in your mind the most? Did you read the kip scale first?

DJ said he wanted to created this site for these Issues
A place were people could find help advice and compasion. And it worked, hopefuly it will continue.

This is propably not the place to find your answers,
Maybe the locale libary would be better. Hope I've help
some if you want the answers.

At one time I was thinking maybe I should not be here.
The subject as A hole is depressing. But, the info. is
very helpful, and the chat sometimes distracting from
the Lonelyness of the cycle. But, I stay because that is
why DJ created the site.

Not sure I can help you too much on this one E, when I first found this site, I think I posted repeatedly about how this place saved my life. I read everything and followed the instructions on the enter page, (a very unusual thing for me to do - follow instructions that is ;) ) and to be honest, I still don't fully understsand the kip scale. I know based on my personal interpretation of the scale, an 8 is my breaking point, 8.000001 and I'm not good for anything. The only ones I truly understand are 1 and 10. The in between kips are more of a personal interpretation for me, and then I have to translate those into the ER's pain scale, 1-10 which a kip 7 in my eyes is an ER 12, a kip 10 doesn't have an ER scale.

There have been alot of new folks, and I have seen many of them start off posting about how awful things have been and after reading responses and realizing that there truly are people here who FULLY understand have come full circle and have become a part of the family and sing full praise of the support they've found here.

That's my cat rambling 2 cents worth ;)

The "Kip Scale" is an easy read.
People find the site....get all hyped up....scan through a couple tabs and think it's time for twenty questions...maybe ??? Often they would be better served to do a little reading before that first post.

It just doesn't make sense to me the fith botton down the first botton is NEW VISTORS page they skiped that one, medical info the cluster traits cluster quiz media if. The only thing they get is the Kip scale!

They find others and they find tools to fight the demon ....tools are all over this site!!! But the first thing they want to do is kill themselfs. I am sorry I don't bye into it.

Then again like I said I am not all that bright :-)!!!

Just had to stop bye and strat some shit ;-)

I am headed back to my corner now!

people are glad when they find this site and then say " they are at the end of their rope" because they are and after trying to get help for years from people that don't understand the pain they are hoping that someone here will understand. I have already lost grip of the rope but would not ask for help here because I know that no one would understand or be able to help because it is not CH related. ( I'm PF ) PJB

mebbie i can help you a little here.....pardon me if some of your ???'s are answered with questions.
First Pain hurts ,obviously, we all know that. So knowing this as we all do tell me this......why is it when you call the doctor's office in pain the first thing you are asked is ....ironically.... "on a scale of one to ten one being the least painfull and ten being the worst possible pain, how bad does it hurt?" the obvious answer here would normaly be , "well, you not a very nice person if it was only a pain scale of one, why in the hell would i be calling you?" but for some reason that doesnt seem to click with most people. WHY? we may never know.
as for looking at the kip scale I personally found it to be insulting and assumed that the 1 stood for a normal 11 and went up from there.
Secondly, everyone has a different tolerance to pain so people look to the kip scale here to figure out exactly where their pain rates ( I guess). All I know about my pain is that it hurts and the kip scale here gives everyone a point of reference as to how one or another of us is feeling (just a theory). the ONE thing that confuses me and maybe every one of us should ask ourselves, "how is it that I have these debilitating headaches, and am so sensitive to light but somehow I manage to sit in front of this glowing monitor without giving it a second thought." more of a valid question in my opinion. as for the "being at the end of my rope" well.......I cant help ya there, I just try to help as best I can and offer my support without question. Some things we are just not meant to understand. If a small child is having a problem, and aproaches you for assistance do you utomatically question thier motives?

I gotta agree with you, Elaine. It sure does seem that a lot of folks skip that New Visitors page that Todd wrote way back when. I think they zone in on the Kip Scale because of the name. It's unusual. And probably very few people here even realize that it was written originally as a post by Bob Kipple. (Same way most of the buttons over started, from us oldies ;))

I've got another baffler though...have you noticed how many new people have found us, since DJ changed the format back in February? On the old board, we had maybe 200 'regular' posters (maybe not even that many regulars)...but in 9 short months we've increased to 2649!! On the old board, we would get a few newbies a month and that stayed the same for years. At the rate we're going now, we're getting almost THREE HUNDRED new people register per MONTH now!! :o Not all of those people post, but - man! We must be hooked up to a lot more search engines now and one that's much more general than specific about different types of head pain. The growth is unbelievable, in more ways than one.

But your post has a good point though...I, too, am seeing more and more folks arriving here with that 'end of the rope' mood than 'wow -i can't believe i found others like me' like it used to be.

Ah Elaine! Here is my opinion! I first got my computer for Christmas/99. I found this site right away, clusters being the first thing I searched when I was online. Obviously being a new computer user, I did not understand message boards etc.....I read everything! Finally when I got a little more confident I posted.
Today lots of people are computer sauvy (sp?) and just jump to the message board goes they want answers NOW, they know how to use boards and are playing old to lazy to search a site for all the answers! ;) Tracy

I forget what kind of disgusting perverted thing I was waiting for but I looked here after reading the guest book. I was infected and remain so. I never expected there to be so many clusterheads.

The Kip scale doesn't work well for me. Mine came on very fast and I wasn't able to discern degrees of them. I think I read the thing though. I still feel a little out of place here.
