Title: Day 27 and feelin low....
Post by F1World on Nov 8th, 2002, 12:30am
Hello everyone.

It's been awhile since I have posted, I've just more or less been hiding in the shadows reading posts daily, dealing with this crap.... still shaking my head about it all.  It's getting to the point whereas I don't really know what is worse... the pain, or the lack of sleep... no, check that, nothing on earth is worse than THAT pain. With the exception of one night PF, I've been getting a whopping 2-3 hours of less than quality zzzzzzz's.  It's gotten to the point where I've starting popping sleeping pills with less than satisfactory results.... anyone else tried this?  I've been going through this cycle sans meds, except for a few Imitrex inhalers graciously donated by Margi (This site's saviour as far as I am concerned) and Grant.  Alas, they seemed to have little effect on this fag in my grey matter... he just won't leave me be at peace... fucker.  School is starting to suck ass, my home life has fallen apart, and everyone that seems to be close to me is getting sucked into this black hole that I have begun to generate.... essentially, I feel hooped..... perhaps even desperate.    I really don't want to sound whiney, although I probably am, and I am not asking for sympathy.... I believe that is between shit and syphilis in the dictionary... I'm just bouncing off my feelings on a board to those whom know exactly where I am coming from, and those that have dealt with this MUCH longer than I.... after all, isn't what this board is all about?  I just need to vent a little, and hope for a little empathy.

Thanks for your time...... peace.

F1World

Damn sorry about this and we've all been there. All I can say about pills is that because I took lots of barbiturates for epilepsy, sleeping medications were redundant and not practical. They gave them to me in the hospital and I laughed.  The more you take them the less effective.  It sucks.

Stick around and rant away. This is our thing.

Wishing I had something more for ya,

Charlie

My heart goes out to you F1. Please nag your Dr. to death to try something new. Don't give up, you have to always keep in your mind that they WILL go away and you WILL be pf soon. Stick around, if for anything, the moral support here is great. Let us know how you are doing.

F1World ... tried to look back at the archives to see what you have tried so far ... but the archives seem to be missing for now.  Sorry if you have already posted this ... but what have you tried so far.

I use Imitrex injections and they work like a charm.  I also have O2, and take verapamil as a preventative.  Hope that helps ... have you tried any of these ???

three days after her doc. put her on this.

Pretty good vent F1. I've seen better.. ;D..but not bad.
Please, go ahead and vent. I sure have and will again. We Clusterheads have a bond that is like that of POW's or survivers of a plane crash. Only we "get it".

Hope you get a a break soon, you're due.
Mark

Did you read the recent post on beaking the cycle?  Don't know what your insurance situation is, but sounded like a plan to me.  I have never hit that point of desparation-but if I did I think I would try anything and everything.  :) :) :)

Thanks all for the kind thoughts, and words of encouragement.... much needed!  Feeling a bit better today than last night when I posted this intially... feeling a bit sheepish now... but nonetheless.. thanks for all your support... sometimes words are just as mighty as meds....

Haven't tried anything other than the imitrex, can't afford to try anything else either.. no insurance.. no cash flow :(   oh well... life could be worse.... I could be chronic!

Take care all

It's kinda messed jonny.... trip to the doc, ER, nuero, x-ray.. that kind of thing, it is free... medications, braces, castings, etc... is not.  If one has something like Blue Cross, you get a discount on the payable stuff.  Some meds actually do fall under the provincial health care system and it can be at a reasonable cost.. however, "the man" has decided meds for Clusterheads do not fall into this category..... lucky us... so we pay full pop for em.  Take care man.

Hey F1!

Sorry you're having such a hard time.  Regarding meds to try, I use Amerge 2.5 mg before bedtime.  It let's me sleep through the night pain free.  I do end up getting hit in the evening though..5 PM and & PM...but at least I'm getting some sleep.  It has a half life of 6 hours.  A pack of 6 costs $97.00 here in Quebec.  I don't know how expensive it is out your way.  Most nights I'll take only half a dose...so it could last you 12 days.  Think of it...12 nights of sleep!!!!  Let me know if'n I can help you k?

hugs
Ann

F1, not sure where in Canada you are, but if you are in Ontario, ask your Doc to give you sample packs.  Tell him outright your situation and maybe you can get that little green card from Hellfare and get your meds at a cheaper rate.  I know it's embarassing and difficult to get that little card, but it's worth a try.  I had to do it myself when I was in between divorce and school.  It's supposed to be there to help people in exactly your situation, and not the generation welfare folks.

Hope you can at least get some sample packs from the doc.

I'll send vibes your way

Cat

Thinking of you F1. Sorry you're getting a hard time.
have you tried propping pillows up so that you "sleep" sitting up? Mopar spends a lot of nights like this, or propped on the couch. He is chronic.

Imitrex injections are his magic bullet, and when he's been getting headaches every two hours, he uses morphine to help him to sleep. He has been taking a magnesium and B group vitamin compound that MIGHT have caused a few less headaches to occur - he actually got a day off the other day - not ONE HA in 26 hours. This has never happened B4, well, not in the last 3 years anyway. Where we live ( New Zealand) our soils are Mg~ deficient so all food grown here is also Mg~ deficient. It might be interesting to see if your soils are too? Mg~  deficiency is implicated in nervous system probs, apparently. Just passing on what our doc told us and hoping it might help you.
Hang in there bro.
