Title: My personal Kip Scale Post by DougL on Oct 23rd, 2002, 12:19pm This is my pain scale: 1. no pain 2. Can feel the blood pulse in my temple 3. Head feels tight, strong pressure on my right side. 4. Feel stabbing in my eye. 5. Nose starts to clog up, eye is red now. 6. Defant pain now. (This is the point I call it a headache and take an imitrex.) 7. Go to a quiet place to deal with it and get away from others. 8. Crying out of one eye, letting snott run down my chin and not care. Wishing the initrex would kick in. 9. Breathing very hard, extremely hard to remain calm and sit still, start cussing. 10. I just want to die. BTW I stopped doing the dance. I found for me the dance makes my headaches worse. DougL |

Title: Re: My personal Kip Scale Post by Margi on Oct 23rd, 2002, 1:03pm Hi Dougie Lutz :) shouldn't you be takin the trex at about a 3 or a 4? maybe then you wouldn't get to the 7's... what you said about the dancing...that makes a lot of sense. Mike's found a lot more relief - or a lower level of pain anyways - if he forces himself to stay as calm as possible. Keeps the b/p down. |

Title: Re: My personal Kip Scale Post by StanTheMan on Oct 23rd, 2002, 1:32pm Good point, Margi and I agree. Although I'm not an Imitrex user, I will always take my high-powered med (Maxalt) when it hits around a Kip 3. Usually the pain will level off around Kip 5 -- sometimes 6. (The pain is really "pushy", but it will only stay there about 15-20 min., then it will usually back off.) Regards! StanTheMan |

Title: Re: My personal Kip Scale Post by Ueli on Oct 23rd, 2002, 2:36pm Good work Doug :D I have only one objection: It is not a Kip scale, it's a DougL scale ;D |

Title: Re: My personal Kip Scale Post by DougL on Oct 23rd, 2002, 4:14pm Margi, you know your right about when I should take the imitrex. If I could afford it I would. I have to make that stuff last as long as possable. That's why I wate. BTW Do you think you could call me by my given name. Douglas Lutz? That would be so sweet of you if you did. ;) DouglasL PS Ulie how about the Dougie scale I like the ring of that. :P |
||
Title: Re: My personal Kip Scale Post by Margi on Oct 23rd, 2002, 4:31pm No deal, Douglas. You'll always be Dougie Lutz to me. ;) Just like Jack is Jackie Boyd. Or would you prefer Doogie? I like Doogie. All righty then. Doogie it is. :P |

Title: Re: My personal Kip Scale Post by Margi on Oct 23rd, 2002, 4:44pm you're so right, Luinda...i forgot that one. We have a lot of names for Kack. Not all of them publishable, mind you. ;) Love, Margin (no wonder people say my name wrong ::) ) |

Title: Re: My personal Kip Scale Post by DougL on Oct 23rd, 2002, 4:44pm My cat makes that noise just before he "Kacks" up a hair ball. LOL DougL |

Title: just bookeeping Post by rumplestiltskin on Oct 23rd, 2002, 11:48pm Kip Schmip! when I arrived here last century...I did not think the Kip Scale represented my experience with my Clusters...I offered mine...noone...and I do mean nooooone paid one iota attention to me. I accepted, in quiet desperation(the English way), that the Kip Scale is and will always be the only recognized Cluster Scale at this site....unless Kip himself changes it. In Atlanta I met Kip and bribed him to do just that. I gave Kip $34 and a coupon for a free perm. The changes never happened. Some things cannot be changed here. I would list them for you butt....I won't. I still use the term "Kip 3, 7 and 10" in a cavalier fashion. I only use 3, 7 and 10. I don't give a hoot how that four flushin Kip describes em! 3 hurts a lil, 7 hurts a shitload, at 10 "pain is all". So there! Sue me...whip me...beat me ...make me write bad checks. I have harbored this resentment for so long...it feels like home to me. Good Grief den |

Title: Re: My personal Kip Scale Post by Marc on Oct 24th, 2002, 12:42am Well Den, I cannot match your eloquence, but I think your scale is too complex. Mine is a much simpler two step process. In fact, it doesn't even require a numerical sequence: - Uh oh......... - OH FUCK........ Marc |

Title: Re: My personal Kip Scale Post by Riccardo on Oct 24th, 2002, 2:42am Let me agree with rumplestiltskin. My personal scale has 3 levels. But may be because my CH had hit me always at ten (at least the "central" part). But I disagree with Doug and Kip on the 10 level. At ten I cannot think I would die or why me?...... I cannot think.....full stop. Oh BTW.... I'm still in remission from 5 years now....... wave your hands.... ;D ;D ;D ;D |
