Post by Margi on Oct 21st, 2002, 1:18pm I got this in my email this morning...it's a hoax and if any of you get this same mail and actually DO delete the file it tells you to, the fix from McAffee is here: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_99436.htm Here's the mail I got, from a trusted friend. I feel so protected now. ;) nope, my neighbour sent me that email and he did actually delete his file as that mail instructs. me, i'm just very suspicious by nature (I'm sure THAT comes as huge news to this crowd!), and I checked it out on McAffee's site before i did the same thing, considering that the file is located in the Windows system folder. i's just watchin out for my clusterkids. |

One of my friends thought they had that too when they got an email like that and deleted their whole damn system ... Rule of thumb with virus' you shouldnt ever touch anything in the SYSTEM folder and also... dont open anything from anyone that isnt a jpeg or a bitmap... especially an exe...you shoulda seen the mess I cleaned up on my friends system... made me laugh... she had 125 virus' some were the same one over and over and over~~~~~~~ sux... alot. thanks Margi... are we supposed to call you Clustermom now...LOL at least your not the NANA... |
