Title: That's It Post by karen j on Oct 11th, 2002, 11:42am I went to a new neuro last week-maybe these things do cause brain damage cause I just don't seem to know when to give up. He just called and left me a message. My MRI came back normal but he does see that I have a sinus infection and that is probably why my head is hurting. I fucking give up. I am not starting this shit over again, I am packing up my headaches and taking them home and dealing with them by myself. I was better off before I started going to these so called doctors and their medicine that make me feel like I am losing my mind. Who knows, if I go to a dentist, maybe they will find a cavity that is the root of my headaches. Sorry but I just give up. |

Title: Re: That's It Post by Ree on Oct 11th, 2002, 11:57am Hi Karen ...One good way to tell is if Imatrex aborts your HA or not... Sinus headaches do not go away with Imatrex... nor would they go away if you use 02 as an abortive...sinus headaches are notneurological or vascular... tell your cocky doctor to come to this board... When I had spinal meningitis the HA was unbearable... None of my abortives for M headaches (sorry folks I mention the dreaded word but proving a point here)worked... If your Head ache is going away with these abortives then you are not experiencing a sinus headache...If your CH is ABORTING COMPLETELY with cold remedies, antihistamines etc... your doc could be right...ree |

Title: Re: That's It Post by SteveY on Oct 11th, 2002, 12:00pm Giving up is an emotion, not an option. There is a link on the MB, with recommended Neuros in all areas. Try one of these. All we need now is someone to tell us where the link is. Steve |

Title: Re: That's It Post by karen j on Oct 11th, 2002, 12:17pm Sorry, I do not usually get like this. I have not tried Imitrex yet however did try Axert which completely stopped the headaches. But the dr won't let me stay on it since it is not for long term use. All I really know is that it is a tripitan. Oxygen does help with the headaches. I am on Topamax right now, which might explain my outburst. Seems I am having a slight problem with it ::). Just don't have any fight left in me today is all. Sorry again for the negative words. |

Title: Re: That's It Post by SteveY on Oct 11th, 2002, 12:26pm Don't be sorry, that's what you sometimes need to do. Go on Slammy's link and look up a good Neuro. Steve |

Title: Re: That's It Post by NancyMcFree on Oct 11th, 2002, 12:33pm I go with Steve here. Giving up is not an option. Since you have already spent the money on a neuro and probably don't want to wait for another appt right now - here is what I would do: Take a deep breath. Write down what you want to say to him before calling and telling the nurse that you received a call from him but didn't understand what he was saying and you would like to talk to him directly. When you get him on the phone tell him the meds that are and are not working for you. Tell him about this board and the cluster headache quiz you took (hopefully you did take it) and how you scored. Tell him you past experience with sinus headaches. Tell him that you are positive it is not a sinus headache. Tell him that you are willing to work with him, but you know your body best and hopefully he is willing to listen to you. Hope this helps. If it doesn't find a new doc. Sometimes when doctors don't agree with us we give up right away instead of trying to educate and work with them. Good luck !!!!! |

Title: Re: That's It Post by Jim R on Oct 11th, 2002, 12:52pm Karen, Topamax did nothing for me or my CH's - just a LOT of weird side effects. Only stayed on it for a week but couldn't wait to get off it.... Lithium worked for me last year, not this year. Verapamil used to work along (but I'm still on it) but doesn't anymore. Now on catapres and having pretty good results with it (and the verap). Hope you find a good doc, a good drug and relief soon. - Jim R |

Title: Re: That's It Post by LTBullitt on Oct 11th, 2002, 1:06pm I'd rather see a vet than one more MD or neuro so I know how you feel. |

Title: Re: That's It Post by cox3406 on Oct 11th, 2002, 4:23pm Hi Karen, Go right ahead, you have every right to be angry, frustrated, scared, I bet just about all of us have went through something similiar, I have. Mis-diagnosed for 14 years. Still have to fight with the DR's, it gets old. Don't be too hard on yourself we got something built-in for that! I ain't been here long, but I wus hurtin real bad when I got here, rantin & ravin and nobody cared, hell it was encouraged! So please, bitch, moan, scream if you need to, just as long as you are fighting the beast somehow you will get through. I love you people, Jonny too ;D Mark |

Title: Re: That's It Post by Charlie on Oct 11th, 2002, 4:41pm Vent away Karen. BUT: My advice is DO NOT SEE A DENTIST for this unless you really know the guy. They might agree and start yanking teeth unnecessarily. It's been know to happen and too many chers have ad this done to no avail. You need to get you doctors at gunpoint if they don't get CH. The bastards. We're here for you. Charlie |

Title: Re: That's It Post by karen j on Oct 11th, 2002, 9:02pm Thanks Charlie! Already been there done that! Had two teeth pulled thinking that was the problem. Have also been on so many antibioticis that they just were not working for the "sinus infection" anymore. I am right back to where I was 2 years ago. I did talk with the doctor, who called in an antibiotic, and he won't even discuss this with me until I see if that solves the problem. Maybe I am crazy, I just don't know anymore. Tired of nobody believing me and think I am just going to try it on my own without doctors for a bit. Got to be less frustrating than it is now. I'd give my eye teeth for it to be just a sinus infection (sorry, I know, bad pun) |

Title: Re: That's It Post by Mark C on Oct 11th, 2002, 9:33pm Karen that was a GOOD pun...LOL ;D I went several years without going back to my Neuro because of the same frustration you are having. I mean it wasnt doing a damn bit of good going at the time, as a matter af fact it seem to get worse, the false hope. This was before the Zomig's and Imitrex stuff came out. Finally a couple of years ago a new (another) General Dr convinced me to go back to my Neuro and it was the first time I ever got any kind of relief. A week ago I was ready to blow my brains out with my .357 because my head had been hurting for a month. Today I had a meeting with my Son's first grade teacher. He is third in his class! I am so proud. ;D PF for 3.5 days now! Mark |

Title: Re: That's It Post by Charlie on Oct 12th, 2002, 2:13am The thing about anti-biotics is, that they have limited effect. Most of the miserable crap that hits us, is pretty friggin mean :-[ I really hate this thing. >:( Charie 8) |
