Title: Hello again - I post this with great trepidation Post by Sweet_Landings on Oct 2nd, 2002, 8:19pm It has been a long time since I was here last, the reasons are many and probably of no consequence to some of you. The main reason being that by the time I started seeing a neuro and had the MRI's and other tests done, I really wasn't having trouble anymore. I am supposing that due to the lapse in problems, the neuro decided that I had 'Variations of Severe Chronic Migraines'. Interesting term there. Anyway, this last Saturday night, BAM right in the freaking head. Just like what happened this time last year. Of course, I am thinking I have an abscessed tooth or an ear infection or it has to be something like that. I mean, I can't be having this problem again, the doctors said last year was stress related and that I have 'Migraines' and this is no migraine. I came back here today after 4 hours yesterday of hell(what I believe to be my first 10). I printed out all the information from here and the OUCH site and took the quiz again. I personally think this neuro is off her rocker and plan on telling her so next week, when I drop all of this information in her lap and tell her I am not leaving until she reads it and listens to me for a change. You may not all accept my reasoning for a lapse, but there it is. I really felt when I disappeared that I didn't belong here. After all I was a migranoid, not a clusterhead. And we all know how well M's are received here. I have some serious questions to ask, but will not do so without knowing ahead of time that I will not be bashed and cyber-beaten. I am pretty low right now and don't need to be taken any lower. I have missed talking with you all and have been perusing to see who is still here and how you all are. Well, thanks. |

I've read everything on the board for the last 3 months though so perhaps I might be able to help. What I can do is offer you a warm welcome There are plenty of good people on the board that will help ya. Come on in and stay awhile. |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by Sweet_Landings on Oct 2nd, 2002, 8:39pm Thank you Ted and NancyMcFree. I have a couple of questions: 1. Is it common to have shooting pains in yoru teeth preceding and impending pain fest? I actually have this several times a day. Sometimes these are so severe they have made me yelp. 2. I have Imitrex shots. Why I didn't remember these yesterday during the 4 hours of hell, I don't know. Call me stupid. Anyway, today by the time I could get to my shots today, the pain had reached a level 8. I gave myself a shot and within about 20 minutes the pain had been diminished to a 5 or so and lasted another 3 hours or so. Is this pretty normal of the results to be expected with the I. shots? Also, do they burn like hell when being injected by anyone else? |
||
Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by NancyMcFree on Oct 2nd, 2002, 8:49pm The Imitrex takes the headache away for me usually completly. Sometimes it leaves me washed out but not always. Haven't figured out why some of the shots burn and others don't ... might be how much you tense your muscles up. Check you script on the Imitrex and make sure its still good (not expired). My teeth almost always ache with the headache. But I don't get the tooth ache before the headache ... its with the headache. Unless of course you count the "shadows" where you feel like crap with the dull ache in the eye and teeth. Hope that helps. |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by Ted on Oct 2nd, 2002, 8:50pm 1) Don't know how common it is just in the preceding stage but since the trigeminal nerve reaches into the mouth it's common to feel it down there. 2) I don't use it so I can't answer that. |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by domm on Oct 2nd, 2002, 9:02pm Sweet - welcome from another newbie, sorry you felt compelled to come back, but these are the most knowledgable and nicest ppl I've run across. I don't use the shots, but the tooth pain happens to me also. I use Oxygen and Imitrex pills as abortitives. Only when I've had too much trex do I get the nagging low scale pain. Rebound? I don't know. But the O2 has always whacked the beast for me (once I learned how to use it right) Read up and you have already taken the best first step - print it out for your doc. hang on, there's PF days ahead. domm |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by Charlie on Oct 2nd, 2002, 9:04pm Snarl. ;) That's the extent of my flaming. :D Dilantin damn near killed me when I had it injected. The doctor said it was because some drugs contain acid. Makes some sense to me if true. ??? Welcome back kid and sorry for your headache. >:( Charlie 8) |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by don on Oct 2nd, 2002, 9:24pm If you have "great trepidition" then you need a freat trepidition support site. Are there meds for that? When I get hit it's always 0-9 on the Kip in minutes. 1/3 of an imitrex shot knocks it down to 2 in about 5 minutes. 'Variations of Severe Chronic Migraines' sounds like some sort of absurd alternative rock opera. |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by Sweet_Landings on Oct 2nd, 2002, 9:37pm LOL Charlie! Yes it does sound like some kind of alternative rock opera. I just have to hold out until Oct. 9th. My dr appt is at 3pm so I should still be in the throes after a 4.5 hour drive. That dr. better be ready for me. My head ought to be spinning by then lol. Also, my mother witnessed my pain fest for the first time today...I felt bad because it upset her so much. She cried. Anyway, she is taking me up to the dr. Betwixt the two of us, someone is damn well going to listen for a change. |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by echo on Oct 3rd, 2002, 8:40am Welcome back sweet. Sorry to read that the beast has returned. I've read alot of posts lately where tooth pain is concurrent with CH. (not in my case) Can't help with the injectors -- I don't use. Take care. |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by oringkid on Oct 3rd, 2002, 9:52am Welcome back Sweet! Doesn't seem like it has been all that long since you were here! My time flies when you are having....oh wait... Nevermind ;D Sorry to hear they are back! I have tooth pain, but usually during, not preceding. I don't use the meds so... But glad to see you posting again! Hang around! Sherry |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by J. Marshall D on Oct 3rd, 2002, 10:47am Welcome Sweet!!! Sorry the pain has made you have to find us again. But don't worry about the bashing. I've Never seen that done here... ::) Seriously, I know the teeth problems happen with a lot of Clusterheads, but tell us a little more about your H/A's. How many a day you get? How long do they last? I know you said one was 4 hours long. Is that a normal Headache, for you? And don't forget, just to come here when you need a little support. Just don't be afraid to give a little support back. James Marshall |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by Linda T on Oct 3rd, 2002, 11:45am Hi Sweets and welcome back. Sorry you're getting another hit. I feel the pain in my teeth during an attack (or during that all day shadow) but I don't feel it preceding. Actually, I usually feel nothing preceding. I get hit out the blue. My only signal is the clock. My hits like to keep a punctual time table! Can't say about imitrex as I don't use the shots. Sorry. Wishing you luck at the neuro an keep us posted. Linda T |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by Sweet_Landings on Oct 3rd, 2002, 12:34pm Thank you again for the warm welcome back. My CH's started again this past weekend. The mild ones are the ones where the tooth pain seems more prominent. Here is what has happened since Sunday: Sunday •7:30ish p.m. lots of tooth pain, left side of face, Kip 5 or 6, came on abruptly and left abruptly after 2 hours Monday •12:30ish p.m., again tooth and jaw area, expanded around temple and eye area, Kip 7, much worse than night before, 45 minutes. Hit fast and left fast •7:30ish p.m. hit fast again, no warning, tooth pain at start then expanded, Kip 4, 45 minutes Tuesday • 9:45a.m. 30 minutes around jaw area, Kip 4 • 12:30ish p.m., started in jaw area, within 10-15 minutes encompassed eye area, temple, jaw and part of left side of forehead, Kip 10, I say it was a 10 because it ocurred to me that the only way to stop it was to end it all, I have never thought like that before, 4 long horrid hours. Wednesday • 9:30a.m, 15 minutes of Kip 3 or 4 again in the jaw area • 12:30p.m., left restaurant and reached home by 1:00p.m., Kip 8 at this point, remembered Imitrex shots, shot myself, 15 minutes later, Kip 6, stayed at this level until it ended abruptly at 3:35p.m. Thursday • 9:30a.m Kip 5, jaw area and temple, 50 minutes • Right now, teeth are starting to have pulsing pains and cheek area is beginning to hurt Kip 2 Yeehaw! These are not what I 'normally' experience as headaches. The only other time I experienced this was from 9/01-5/02. Migraines stopped during that time last year and returned in July 2002. I venture that I will not have a migraine this month. My migraines are related to my cycle and I experience light sensitivity and noise sensitivity for generally 12-24 hours, also vomitting is common fo rme during these migraines. I do have tension type headaches sometimes but a couple Tylenol take care of those. No results from OTC drugs or Ultram since Sunday night. Also, no sensitvity to light, noise can make me cranky some but not like with a migraine, noise doesn't cause more pain with the headaches since Sunday night. No nausea or vomitting. What do you all think? |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by simplevox on Oct 3rd, 2002, 1:59pm hi there! sorry for your CHs! i am a newbie. i have had the tooth pain 24/7 for the past 2 weeks. the pain is only slight...it is more of a pulsing...just enough to be annoying and keep me awake. my teeth throb constantly and when i try to put my teeth together, they chatter. does anyone have any recommendations for what to do about this? i was thinking about trying Anbesol or something to numb my gums so i can sleep tonight. my damn throbbing teeth kept me up all night, but at least i didn't get a headache last night...if it's not one thing it's another... btw...i think the verapamil/depakote combo is keeping me PF, but something is causing my right hand to have severe tremors...anyone else have that? simplevox ;D |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by Drk^Angel on Oct 4th, 2002, 6:02pm Welcome back to the looney-bin sweet! Have ya ever tried chewin' on a piece of gum when the teeth start botherin' ya? After an attack one time, the teeth were still annoyin' me a good deal, but when I started to chew a piece of gum (not because of the teeth, but just because I've been chewin' alot lately) my teeth seemed to feel a bit better. Haven't had another attack since then, so dunno for sure if it was a fluke or maybe just a coincidence (the teeth feelin' better part, not the not havin' any attacks part :P)... PFDAN.............................................. Drk^Angel |

Title: Re: Hello again - I post this with great trepidati Post by Jim R on Oct 4th, 2002, 6:17pm Oh GOD, I feel for you - your headaches sound like mine - I have a lot of teeth, jaw, and even neck and ear pain with mine. And, I've got some pretty heavy shadows right now, but in the forehead/eye area. I don't have migraine, so can't offer anything there.... I've had a few beers tonight, which I normally can do on my med. regimen of catapres and verap. but sometimes things don't work out... I WISH I could take imitrex but my neuro and other docs won't let me because of some family history and my own high blood pressure issues. I do have Amerge, but have yet to try it - maybe when my wife comes home I will if this sucker gets any worse. I have it in my teeth now - feel like they're going to explode or implode... Are you using O2? Sorry you're here, but glad there's a place for all of us! - JIm R |
