Title: Question for chronics Post by sueellen83 on Sep 29th, 2002, 2:24pm Hey folks!!! When you first went chronic did your cycle start at a different time of year than usual? Mine have always started in either Oct. or Feb. but, this time they started in the middle of August. My DR. thinks I might be becoming chronic. I'll appreciate any info. you can give me. :'( |

Title: Re: Question for chronics Post by BobG on Sep 29th, 2002, 2:33pm When you say this bout started in August, do you mean August a month ago or August a year ago? If August a month ago, you have 10 months more to go to be chronic. If August a year ago, then you are chronic now (if you haven't had a 2-week un-medicated break during the last year. |

Title: Re: Question for chronics Post by sueellen83 on Sep 29th, 2002, 2:47pm Sorry about that. August a month ago. Dr. didn't say I was chronic yet. He's just concerned because this cycle is out of the norm for me. |

Title: Re: Question for chronics Post by Lenny on Sep 29th, 2002, 3:14pm when i was eposodic,my cycles have always started at different times. My cycles have always been 8-9 months long when i was eposodic. According to my dr.( medically speaking that the medical comm.considers that chronic (due to the long cycles ). I myself consider it eposodic, due to having a break from the beast that use to last each time from 6-months to 1-year (how i miss that ),now i am chronic and its no fun. Hopefully you wont go this route. your cluster bro, Lenny |

Title: Re: Question for chronics Post by Linda T on Sep 29th, 2002, 3:26pm Dear Suellen: I have only had 4 episodes in 18 years. One started in July, one started in September, one started in October and this last one started in November and is still going. I've said this before and I'll say it again - ch is unpredictable. Unfortunately, you'll just have to wait and see. Good luck. and wishing you all PFDAN always, Linda T |

Title: Re: Question for chronics Post by maria on Sep 29th, 2002, 6:10pm Sueellen, some of the research regarding episodics turning into chronics suggests that there is an increased chance of turning chronic, if your age of onset of CH is later i.e. from the third decade onward, if you have more than one cluster period per year, and if the remission periods become shorter and shorter. I hope this information is helpful for you. Wishing you PFDAN, Maria |
