Title: Greetings
Post by mojo_grimm on Sep 28th, 2002, 6:26pm
My name is Mike and from what I have read some of you know about me.  I am Skettico's loved one.  I wanted to take this time to thank you for helping out with information regarding my cluster headaches.  I will be checking this board daily and look forward to speaking to you.

Thank you,

Mike

Welcome aboard mojo Mike!!!  :)

Glad you have found a home here with us.  First thing in order would be for you to read read read.  There is more info here than you can find anywhere.

We're a big family here, and we treat each other that way too, right down to sibling rivalry and petty arguments ;) and of course all the love and caring.

Make yourself at home and get to know us and tell us about you.  You're lucky to have Skettico, she's a real trooper :)

Like you said, Skettico is a real trooper.  She has been the biggest help and it is much appreciated.

A little about me:

I was born and raised in Las Vegas.  I went to college in Chicago where I earned my degree in Mortuary Science. After college I moved back to Las Vegas and am currently an Operations Analyst for a outsourcing business.

My hobbies are music, poetry, games and knowledge.

Somehow Mike, I think I'm gonna leave that alone for now seeing how's you're new and all LOL.  So sorry, but a degree in mortuary science could be a deadly weapon around here LOL (no pun intended ;) )

You'll find that the folks here will have you covered no matter what you may need.  I'm so glad that O2 is working for you.  If you have any questions about it whatsoever, the man to talk to is Jonny...although I'm told that Ueli is one of the true guru's that jonny studied under.  I'm not an old timer like them, but I've been here a few months, and these guys(and gals...can't be sexist...DOH, nevermind)  have literally saved my skin.

How long have you suffered from Clusters?  Are you episodic or chronic?  I'm episodic still (thankfully) and am in upstate NY and hubby (my real trooper ;) ) (sheesh I kill me with the puns ROFL) is in the USAF.

OY, I'm gonna shut up now, I know Slammy's gonna have a field day with all this on Monday LOL

Guess I'm just in a goofy mood cause it's Saturday :)

I have been getting the clusters for over 8 years now and they have been chronic for the last year or 2.  Oxygen seems to work for the short haul.

Welcome to the board mojo.

Skettico has been going on and on about her cute guy and how huggable and sweet he is.

Just kiddin'.

Stick around. There's lots of cluster info here.

See ya soon for lunch. (ask Skettico)

Sorry to hear you've made chronic :(

The O2 has made a world of difference for me.  I think that combined with the proper preventatives have helped many many people here.  Make sure you have a doc that is knowledgeable in clusters, and if you don't, educate him.  Tell him about this place, and print out the info and take it to him.

I hope you'll find a home here amongst friends and supporters who truly do know your pain.  You're not alone my friend :)

Mike - sorry you felt compelled to seek us out, but glad you found us. Sket has hung in there and dug for lots of good info, now you can hang around for support as well.
You should look into some of the preventatives. I started Verapamil three weeks ago and have now gone 10 or 11 days with a HA. There are other that work well also, so read, read, and read. This beast can be tamed.
Good luck

:) Hi Mike,

Just wanted to say, good thing Skettico found this place for both of you.  I am only a supporter but I have found some support myself here, because that is the way of the clan... ;)

Its hard to believe I think at first, that such a place can exist; once you read all the facts and start reading posts etc., I think you'll feel some relief, other than from the meds.  This IS a family, in the greater sense of the words.

PFDAN (Pain Free Days and Nights) to you,

Peppermint

Heh!!!  If you are driving the bus, I shall bring the beverages and some O2.

This really seems like a good place to be and I am excited to learn anything that can and will help.

I have tried Injectable Imitrex and it didnt do much for me.   Oxygen is a phenominal alleviator (thank you for the advice) and I am looking for something that I can use as a preventative.  Any suggestions?

Am I supposed to post this to a different forum?

Mike dude.

600 mgs Lithium

480 mgs Verapamil

Ive taken this combo everyday for over a decade and it prevents 80% of my HA's from ever showing up, its the combo of choice for chronics.

Talk to your Doc.

Hi Mojo,

Hope that's not your last name because of your line of work.  Something you might want to know about us too.
We will offer information, share ideas, joke around (you had to know that this was coming with the work you do, and the city you've lived in.)   ....LOL  but we are all very nice here for the most part and we welcome you.

Get that mojo working hon, cause if you're chronic, you're gonna need all the help you can get. But we do survive.  One dayat a time.     One suck of 02 at a time......then we start  YELLING  at each other. (a previous post of Jonnys)       Linda Howell

Sket-
2 Jonnys? AAARRRGGGHH! I'll never get to sing!!!

I think it sucks that you need this forum, Mojo- but I'm really glad you found it- the theme for today is:
"WE_ARE_FAMM_UH_LEE, and I think you've discovered, this bunch of crazy galoots mean it!
So, since you're in Lost Wages, the WHOLE bunch is gonna have a family reunion- at your place, really soon, "kay? I'll let you know the date-all you need is about, ohhh say 125 rooms, and a Safeway- free drinkies, if we play in the casinos, so it'll be cheap -by the way, we'll be needing transportation too- do ya have a plane?
Have great evening you two- give each other a big hug!
MORE PFDAN!

Welcome aboard MoJo.  Watch for that bus cause it is bound to crash with Jonny driving.  Just make sure you ain't under the wheels when it does !!!!  Interesting career choice by the way.  CH should never play with dead things !!!!!!!!!!  Your honey is a keeper, treat her well.

I welcome each and everyone one of you to come to Las Vegas aka "Lost Wages, City of lights; City of Sin...place your title here__________"  anytime you want to come out.

A second Jonny, eh?  Based on some of the posts I have seen Jonny put in here, I think we'd get along just fine.  I haven't gotten my feet wet enough in here to show my true colors.  So Jonny, you still have the trademarked and passworded name intact.

Anywho, eveyone has been extremely helpful and I appreciate it a ton.

Mike

UH excuse me Mr. Mule?

Just because Ma wrapped you up and tried to give you away every Christmas doesn't mean you are gifted. Ever wondered why everyone asked for the reciept when that big box under the tree had their name on it?
