Title: military is not the life for a cluster head Post by robb__30 on Sep 25th, 2002, 8:48pm Its me again answering the (t) post. sorry I messed the subject heading up. Had the shadows all day today, non stop. Still have them now. The latest med I'm taking is PROPRANOLOL, MIDRIN, AND PROMETHAZINE. Last night at the hospital they gave me O2 which alwas does the trick and pumped me full of TORRIDAL. I am a sergent in the military. Ive been in for 14 years. If I didn't have so much time invested I would probably get out. The doctor says he wants me to try some other meds and if those do not work then he is going to refur me to a civilain specialist. I just hope and pry to god I don't have another attack like I did last night. By the way I didn't have an attack to day. I just had the shadows all day non stop but they were not too bad. As for the IMITREX, it's not an option right now. They will not give it to me! |

Title: Re: military is not the life for a cluster head Post by robb__30 on Sep 25th, 2002, 9:08pm I posted this in the subject (t). I messed that subject heading up. Sorry. Thought they were gone but, they were'nt. Went two days without an attack then all of a sudden at 5:10pm yesterday it returned with a vengance. It was the longest attack in 11 years of having clusters. The attack lasted just over 3 hour. Usually they last only an hour. I am in to week five of my cycle. these headaches are different from the other that I have had in the past. I dont have them every day. They dont happen at the same time every day like they used to. The headaches will shift. What I mean is I will have them in the day for a week the they will shift to late at night. Has this happened to anyone else befor? Is it a sign of becoming a cronic sufferer? I mean even now I have had low intense shadows all day. Its very strange. Does anyone have an idea? They will not give me an O2 tank to take home either. |

Title: Re: military is not the life for a cluster head Post by Not4Hire on Sep 25th, 2002, 10:33pm Hey robb_30.....it's kinda hard to decipher your post, but here's a try..... #1...yer hurtin'...sound a bit scared...gotta whole lotta questions...... the answers ARE here....and will take some digging/reading/research to find *some* of the answers #2.... you feel...in your present state of mind....that you ain't got time to look/dig for the *right* info for *your* particular circumstance.... most all of us been in the same place one time or another.... #3..yer being jacked around by doctors.....this too has been the experience of WAY too fuckin' many of us...... BUT....ya have to grab onto what works.....realize that you have already made contact with THE best place for support.....THE best collection of information.....and THE best place to learn how to *get around* idiots who won't prescribe Imitrex or *give* you oxygen. Just because you are in the military (or for anybody who doesn't have insurance) DOES NOT mean you can't get something to get you through this crisis. You are not incarcerated.....I'm guessing you can get off-base.....find a different doctor. Anybody with $100-200 and a *NEED* can get oxygen and a regulator from a welders supply. If you need a NONREBREATHER (da only kind) mask, email me and I'll send ya one....with care and feeding instructions. Meantime, read the stuff on the buttons to LEFT......educate yerself and know that somebody here is watchin'......anytime 24/7..........just holler and don't worry 'bout gettin' flamed......like Den sez: these are just little black squiggles on a TV screen.....use 'em......or don't..... |

Title: Re: military is not the life for a cluster head Post by jonny on Sep 27th, 2002, 2:18pm NOT4, You cant hook a non-rebreather mask to a welding 02 regulator, you have to have a medical reg converted to fit a welding 02 tank. That takes a 3x1/2 threaded nipple and a 540s connector, no gas house will do this for you cause of liability. ......................jonny |

Title: Re: military is not the life for a cluster head Post by Not4Hire on Sep 27th, 2002, 8:51pm ....i bow to your superior knowledge.....I meant to say that one may get o2 from a welder's supply...the correct regulator (you are 100% correct) can be procured on eBay or the like.....GOOD on ya for making the distinction! And, jonny, you are da GURU for makin' the conversion...listen to him, folks (most of the time ;D ;D ) Point *was* : don't let the bastards get ya down..... |
