Title: Now I'm worried but oddly relieved
Post by Bucko on Sep 24th, 2002, 2:23pm
This is all pretty new. I've suffered a lot of 'headaches' in the past, some vision blurring, you guys know all about it, but 5 weeks ago on a plane it felt like someone was stabbing me in my left eye for a couple of hours or so. I was going on holiday, 2 or 3 more episodes and then the dreaded return flight which was everything I suspected it would be. A trip to the doctor's diagnosed sinus trouble and a de-congestant next time I flew. Last night it came back, seemingly stronger than I recall, and I've had it all day, on and off. And I fly again in 2 days. The de-congestant has been useless, and my doctor prescribed antibiotics over the phone. 10 minutes ago an article in the paper led me to this site. At least I now know what it is, and I feel there are a whole bunch of people that understand, which helps. But I am not looking forward to the flight!

Well Bucko,  if you are anything like me, and I know I am, airtravel always triggers a cluster.  There is an altitude drug that has been somewhat effective for me it taken the day prior to travel.  Can't remember the name of it.  Skiers use it in high altitude conditions.
Welcome to the site.  There is a wealth of information available here.  Use the buttons to the left and read read read.

We were mentioned in the paper? Which one? Any chance of finding us a link to the article? That would be cool.
Or was it an article on the most fucked up people on earth?

Seem's to me you should see a Neurologist to be diagnosed instead of self daignosing from a news paper article.

But!!!, I've been known to be wrong some times.

If it was the National Enquirer then you definitely have Ch because they tell nothing but the truth.

If not then listen to Jonny and get to a neuro for a diagnosis.  Good luck.

Agreed.  Nothing like a sound diagnosis from a cluster knowledgable neuro instead of a tabloid.  We have a list of them over at the OUCH site, there's probably one in your area too.

I can just hear Jonny's voice saying....You hear me? ... I hear me.

Actually, it's more like:  You heeyah me?...I heeyah me.

:)

The National Equire checks, re-checks and triple checks the facts.  I believe everything they say -- including the 5' 130lb newborn delivered by a 95 lb woman.

Welcome.

It does sound like clusters but the other dopes here are correct. Seeing a neurolgist is the thing to do. After several boring but painless tests he will be able to put your mind at ease. There are some effective treatments for CH and you will find them here. See a neurologist though. You and we will feel better.

Believe me, if you have this horror, you are among friends. We know, really know, that this has nothing to do with the level of pain icurred by what most people call a headache.

Let us know how you make out.

Charlie

Bucko, glad you've found this site!  If it is indeed CH, you'll need all the support you can get. And THAT is precisely what this site is good for.

A good bunch of clusterheads with a lot of advise when you don't know how to handle the beast anymore.

Good luck to you and get diagnosed!

All sound advice and pretty quick too. Thanks for all of the messages. The article was in England, in The Times (I'm from England) - you can access it aa www.thetimes.co.uk and I'm going to be on the phone in the morning to change the Doc's referral to an ENT specialist for sinus problems to a neurologist, as recommended both by you guys and the article. All I can say is that both the article and a number of posts on this site describe my symptoms exactly, so if I were a gambling man .... As it is, I'll wait for the experts to tell me, but you've all been where I am now, and the reason for the post was to say thanks to you all for taking time to put up messages which really struck a chord and gave me some comfort - which judging from the way my head is feeling, I'm going to need pretty soon!
