Title: Dan Rather: Topomax on the news tonight Post by Not4Hire on Sep 23rd, 2002, 7:49pm Did y'all see the Topomax report on CBS?NBC?ABC?...one o' them......said a new therapy for meegrainers...30 million of 'em......is the use of an anti-seizure drug..... pore ol' gal said she was gettin' up to 8 (count 'em ...eight) migraines a MONTH......and now she hasn't had any. I'm sooooo fuckin' glad our brethren are getting this kind of exposure on PrimeTime......not even a mention of clusters...... .....wonder how many of us *in cycle* have kept count how many headaches we had since Thursday....... >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( |

Title: Re: Dan Rather: Topomax on the news tonight Post by BobG on Sep 23rd, 2002, 8:05pm Even not being mentioned is better than no mention at all. Seems like it would be a good time to e-mail Dan R. and say thanks. After all, our meds come from migrainers. And a little hint about cluster headaches in his next headache report would be nice. |

Title: Re: Dan Rather: Topomax on the news tonight Post by Charlie on Sep 23rd, 2002, 10:16pm Nice. Topamax has had mixed reviews here. If I could take it for my seizures, I would. It was the only drug that completely wiped them out. It made me nuts though. What a deal knowing there is a drug that works 100% for me and I can't use it :'( >:( Charlie |

Title: Re: Dan Rather: Topomax on the news tonight Post by Marshall_D on Sep 24th, 2002, 11:52am You hit the nail on the head, for me...Charlie. The side effects were not worth the limited success I had with Topamax. At some points, I thought I was dying with that med. But glad to here that poor person who suffers with 8 H/A's per month has relief. She should try 90 to 300 per month. Yeah, their shorter. But they definitely make up in pain what they lack in time... |

Title: Re: Dan Rather: Topomax on the news tonight Post by catlind on Sep 24th, 2002, 3:52pm Clusters may be shorter, but man everytime I hit the O2 and watch the clock I swear every single minute of the first 15min. worth of O2 is an hour...it feels like 15 hours just to get through that first 15 min. when a kip 8+ hits. They just don't get that 3-10 headaches a day at extreme pain levels is harder to deal with and they refuse to believe us when we try to educate the medical community >:( I'm getting so sick of the whole thing....Drug Seeking/Migraines/Hormones, yadda yadda yadda, I wish they'd suffer one, just one and then tell me all that shit >:( Okay I'm done ranting for the moment hehe Thanks for the update Not4 :) Cat |

Title: Re: Dan Rather: Topomax on the news tonight Post by echo on Sep 24th, 2002, 4:15pm Rant away catlind. Must agree with what everyone has said. I have a migrain daughter that often attempts to "Out Pain" me. If she's at the house and a good one starts to hit -- she leaves -- can't handle being wrong. What irritates me is when she has one of hers she wants quite, dark, compresses, ass kissing, and compassion. Hey -- go the hell home!! At the age she's at I'm no longer responsible. wow -- where the hell did that come from? Somehow I'm sure I'm going to pay. Echo - S'ing TFU now! |
