Title: Oh Yeah! The Golf Tournie Results and Pictures!! Post by Margi on Sep 22nd, 2002, 5:18pm My brain just got back today from vacation, even though the rest of me arrived home on Friday. ::) We were blessed with good weather for the tournie, a little overcast but the rain held off and it was warm enough (by Canadian standards) for a great round of golf. The winners were, as follows: LOW GROSS, TEAM - Gross Score of 57!! TEAM 3 Bill Lovejoy Bonnie Woods Marsha Weil Marsha had to leave to return home directly from the golf course, and prizes were awarded back at the hotel, so Bob P has her trophy to mail to her. LOW NET, TEAM- Net Score of 31! TWISTED SISTERS Elaine Holloman* Linda Howell Deb Lovejoy Margi Storey DJ - caddy *Elaine got hit with a cluster after the 2nd hole :'(, so DJ took her place for her. For a caddy, he's a pretty good lil golfer. Deb is a great golfer too, and she sure was a good teacher for Linda and me. Those kids from MA, they sure have some colourful language!! Oh, and we got a birdie! And Elaine won the award for Best Caddy. Actually, the Twisted Sisters tied with Team 4, comprised of Riccardo Pentenero, Warren Woods, Ted Krajewski and Tracy Lee and we had to do a 'hole by hole' comparison - both teams tied for the first five holes. It was our BIRDIE that finally won us Low Net. Team 5 was our Italians: Davide Schianterelli, Sten Capurro, Piera Ravazzoli and her husband, PierUgo Bocchio. They were awarded the Adventurers Award - seems they only were able to find 15 of the 18 holes on the golf course, but they all made it back to the clubhouse, in relatively good shape. :) There were a few smart alecks on the putting green just behind the 18th hole that didn't see the humour in our Italians ACCIDENTALLY placing a tee shot near their heads, but BobP came in to save the day and they shut up real fast. (Bob's a pretty big guy). Thank you Bob. Now, Team 2 was made up of Bob Pahlow, Mike Storey (my hubby) and Jonny. Jonny's been battling sciatica for quite awhile and after a few holes, we could tell it was flaring. But the smile never left his face and we did actually let him use real clubs instead of the plastic ones he was awarded the night before. He developed quite a funky walk by the 9th hole, so we gave him the Mr. Personality Award. He was proud to display his horse's behind and the crotchless pantyhose at the awards ceremony. I wonder if they (the hose) made it home to Baston (that's the way he says it) with him? Jonny and Bob both wanted to nominate Mike for Most Original Swing, because a good portion of Mike's shots were destined to go swimming. Bob told him that once they smell water...there's no stopping them. But, our friend Riccardo ended up taking the honours for the Most Original Swing. Apparently, his style is to hit the golf ball and then continue on swatting invisible foes in the air that hover around him. Either that, or he was trying to surrender. We're not real sure on that. Linda Howell hit a beautiful drive off the 5th hole and the rest of us were in the trees and I think DJ's left the stratosphere. Her drive stood as Long Drive until the last team came through. Ted Krajewski ended up taking that award. The Luckiest Shot Award went to Tracy Lee (the gal who did the lion's share of the work on the golf tournie!) Tracy was chipping on to the green, hit the flag and drained it. Well DONE, girl!! Closest to the Pin on the 18th hole went to DJ. He was just on fire! BobP was kind enough to emcee the awards ceremony for us and we WERE going to give him a beautiful thank you gift of a...lessee, yeah, a cruise to Alaska, that's it, but his team mates talked us out of that idea. Apparently, the air quality suffered miserably when Bob was around and his flatulence remains unsurpassed. Mike and Jonny are encouraging him to turn pro, from the sounds of it. We gave him the Lil Stinker Award (it actually says Most Gross and it's a ceramic skunk), and a t-shirt that says 'Tommy Pullmyfinger' (with the Tommy Hilfiger insignia.) Thank God he laughed. But the coolest part of the whole day was one of the 'regulars' at the golf course stopped me to read my OUCH t-shirt and asked what OUCH stands for. I explained what I could and then, later, I saw BobP over there talking to that same group of folks and, lo and behold, the Mylora Golf Course ended up making a $200 donation to OUCH!! That totally ROCKS!! A wonderful time was had by all and congratulations to all us winners!!! Thanks, Tracy, for all your hard work on this - you made our day really special. Here are some pictures (hopefully not too many duplicates) from our wonderful weekend. A few golf shots in there too. Title: Re: Oh Yeah! The Golf Tournie Results and Picture Post by Margi on Sep 22nd, 2002, 8:00pm kinda tough to take pics of myself, Ree. I took all those shots you see there. There's way too many of me anyways from the other clusterpeeps. I see I need to have a lil chat with Jenny Craig now, after seeing myself!! Although standing next to Elaine who weighs about 25 pounds just isn't fair. :) And, Linda Howell...she's about your height, Ree - 2'6" and weighs maybe 30 pounds? It's just really hard on us elephant's egos, ya know? |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! The Golf Tournie Results and Picture Post by Linda_Howell on Sep 23rd, 2002, 12:17am hey Mast? Wanna fight? I got one inch on you. And BTW I weigh 116. Put them dukes up. Guys this golf is obviously not for everyone...me included, but it sure was fun. Chasing a little white ball all over a beautiful area was nice though. Margi , I have to disagree though, you were certainly more than just for show. Margi is a really good golfer for someone who plays every ten yrs., I think she said.. Linda |
