Where would you like the next OUCH convention to be?

I have inside info that it would be nice to have it the north east but I aint hosting shit (to big of a job for me)

Yes if it was in the North Eastish area it would be nice. I would host it down at 1000 Islands at the riveredge resort. Right on the St. Lawrence straight across from Boldt Castle, and DAMN good food LOL. Unfortunately I can't guarantee I'll be here next year to host it...meaning the north east. But if it's decided on an area up here then I would be happy to set everything in motion and get everything set up.

You're supposed to have these things where you haven't been.

Thousand Islands are nice....short drive for you too. I was in a motel fire there about 1965. Interesting thing seeing the bathroom ceiling on fire. We drove half way to Messina that night to find a B&B. Should have gone across the bridge.

Hey Jonny,

I though Nashville, TN, was already a possibility - that someone had offered to do the work there? Did I hear wrong?

Nashville is good for us...but Boston would be nice also - neither Scott nor I have ever been to Beantown before.

I'd love to arrange one....anyone want to have it in Lexington, Kentucky?

Oh, and if it is Nashville, I have a great friend who lives there and is a convention organizer for a living!

I would be happy to work with the convention committee doing all the leg work to set it up here, in fact have already looked at Pine Point Resort....beautiful facilities and reasonable prices.

*hrumph* Guess I don't get input on one in the 1000 islands :P

New England in the fall ............beautiful. Lots to see and do. Boston, NH, Maine. Mountains and ocean .......all within an hours drive of each other.

Nashville is way up there in my book, I was there last October and thought it was just the greatest town. even went to see a movie at the Regal with what use to be my girl.

Just need hosts willing to take on a (Im not sugar coating) major task.

Now that I stuck my foot in my mouth, :-/ I wonder if someone who has done this hosting thing could create a list of whats needed,things to get done,ect. I'm not chickening out, but am wondering what I may have just got myself into. ::)

Hey everyone,

While New England in the fall sounds great can't we move it up to the summer because a lot of people couldn't come to this years because of their kids being in school. As a matter of fact Connor will be in the first grade next year and unless we can find a sitter we won't be able to come. There is no way that we can take him out of school. What does anyone else think.

Oooooooooh Don, White Mountains. That's where the NH Fire Dept held their annual convention and presented some of the guys here at Ft Drum with their fire pins. It's gorgeous there from what I can tell of the pictures.

BTW... Traverse City isn't anywhere near Detroit... Look at a map of MI, trace your finger approximately north by northwest from Detroit until ya hit the blue colored area, and you'll find Traverse City around there. Or... Look at the palm of your right hand, hand straight, fingers together... Kinda looks like the LP of MI doesn't it... Detroit is near the base of the thumb... Traverse City is where the tip of the pinky touches the ring finger... It's a very beautiful area. The woods, the lake, Grand Traverse Bay. Real nice choice if you ask me... Although I think someone should host it in Pittsburgh, so that I don't have to drive very far. I'd do it, but I doubt I'd be able spend the time to organize it.

LOL jonny. I've submitted a proposal to the OUCH convention site thingie. Since I know the area I also know of alot of other things available here. I also liked that the resort has a play area for kids. There's lots for kids big and little around as well, go-karts (have to pick a different one than one I took my family too....we got kicked out for being to rowdy LOL....they don't take kindly to 4 car crashes) There's also parasailing over the 1000 islands for anyone who wants to pay the price, as well as helicopter tours. For the men who don't like girly shopping, there's a Black and Decker outlet store on Hill Island, right next to the McIntosh factory outlet (that's crystal and china for the men who don't know ;) ) hehe.

There is alot to be credited for the location/area in general. I'm happy to do the footwork, and would enjoy having something to do while hubby is gone.

Geez...I'm rambling again LOL. Jonny, they'll never shut me up - I'm tellin ya! LOL

Drk, you're right northern michigan is gorgeous. I grew up across the river from Michigan, and the north western part of the state is just as breathtaking as the other locations suggested.

Cat... You're prolly talkin' about the Upper Peninsula of MI (Traverse City is in the northern part of the Lower Peninsula) but you're right... It is very beautiful. The UP would prolly remind everyone of Canada, because everyone says 'eh there... LOL

Okay Cat... Now you've confused me (I thought that was supposed to be the other way around LOL). You said ya grew up across the river from Michigan, but said you were talking about Holland, MI. Holland is in west MI, on the lake, a little under a hundred miles from any state line. And Green Bay is many many miles of lake away from either Holland or NW LP of MI, and about 40 miles from MI at it's closest. I'm not tryin' to pick on ya or anything, but I'm just real confused right now.

I did grow up right across the river, right across from Marine City to be exact. However we had friends in Holland, and family that drifted around the state. So I've been throughout the state. I comment on the UP and Green Bay cause I can't stand the packers and the UP of Michigan is too close for me to want to go there LOL

Okie dokey... Thanks for clearing things up... I was startin' to wonder if my mind was even more messed up than normal. LOL Lived most of my life in west MI, and am fairly knowledgeable about much of the state. I've been to Holland, MI a few dozen times for the tulip festival and on various other trips. Had an offer to work at Burger King in Holland for $8/hour when I was only makin' minimum wage at the ones in the area I was living in... Would've been about a 20 mile drive each way each day, so I turned 'em down...

(IM a fun drunk) if Dave comes and he gets drunk I worry and dont get drunk... but either way I have to be drunk to be on a plane... the white mountains sounds cool to me I wont have to fly to get there...

On the OUCH web site, "Gatherings" page, there is a link near the top which says, "Want to host the next convention?". Click the link for an explaination of what is entailed and a form to submit if you want to host.

I think I'll change the form script tonight. I'm just not confident in the one that's running it now. PACO said he completed the form but I never received the notification. I tried it Friday and it worked fine. PACO resubmitted it and it worked also.

Also would depend on when you submitted the form. It sends me an e-mail to my non-work address when someone completes the form. I haven't checked that e-mail since yesterday morning. Whne did you submit the form?

How about San Francisco? September/October is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Lot's of tourist stuff to see and do...amazing food. Friendly people. If not, I vote for the Boston area. That way, I can visit my family back home, and it appears that there is a large Boston area contingent.

LOL! Yep! anytime! I was just thinking... we can get Malibu Country Club for the golf tournament.... Get Dr' Kudrow(s) for a guest speaker(s).........group dinner at the Chart House on the beach... hmm.... shopping spree for those inclined at the Promenade....25 minutes from LAX.....only drawback.. no smoking in public places in California..... that wouldn't make it for the Italian Posse... ;D
