Title: CH/Dental Question
Post by Jim R on Sep 19th, 2002, 12:11pm
I've got a dentist appt. Monday to have three upper molars worked on - BLASTING - removing old silver amalgam fillings and putting porcelain/ceramic "onlays" in them - apparently better than crowns (but still costing me $1700 for the three of them - then will have five more to go in Oct.)  Anyway, the question is - these teeth are on the side that I'm getting CH's on and, again, they're top molars - where the CH's go into until they feel like they're going to explode.  Do you think I will be more sensitive to pain on that side while they work on these?  I hate having dental work done anyway because of a few bad experiences when I was younger...  But man, these teeth are already sensistive as it is let alone drilling, etc.  Would appreciate any experiences any of you might have had with dental work while in cycle on the affected side.  Thanks!  - Jim R

Just reading your post made my teeth hurt.
I have no answer for you.  Just wanted you to know I'm in your court.  Hope the appointment goes smoothly.
To be a dentist must be a odd job.  Nobody wants to see you, and when they do, they can't wait to leave.

I sure hope you'll get anaesthesized?!?  I have had invasive dental work done, out of cycle, with no bad results, but then I had shots before the dentist began.

On the other hand  having my brows plucked at the beauty salon (when in cycle) only failed to result into a big time attack, because I told the girl to stop!

Good luck and I am pulling for you!

Jim,
I had two fillings removed and new ones put on a year ago.  It was my molars on my effected side.  Let me say it was no worse then dental work on my uneffected ch side.  Also the shot is less painful than a cluster attack so what pain you talkin about?  Some dentist use a numbing solution on a q-tip and rub your gum area before they even give you a shot so you don't even feel the shot of novicain.  I am confindent you will breeze through this and do fine.  I will say an extra prayer for you.

Shoe, Jim, I don't think there is a human being that will visit a dentist willingly or for fun or because you missed him!
Since beginning of time they've been pure evil people.  They pick this proffesion purely because of the legality to hurt with a license.  Not that I want to scare you. :o

To get to the point that I actually want to make:
You are going to hurt and I have no idea if it's going to worsen your CH or bring on an attack.

BUT, some good advise (only my opinion and I'm full of those)
;D
As in the days of old, drink a lot of strong liquor before you go, for it is of no consequence if this dentist likes you or not, or if you ever see this guy again in your life, then at least when you hurt, you won't care.

Sorry for that, but I have no other way of encouragement, but you definitely have my sympathy and good wishes.

Actually, I rather enjoy going to my dentist..... He has a foxy assistant as well as hygenist!... ;D  Plus, I get a liberal dose of nitrous when I am there!...:)

Not a bad combo for a Slammy!!!   ;D

Yes!  I had a lot of dental work done under nitrous and it was great -  I couldn't have cared less what he was doing to my teeth, but unfortunately many many dentists no longer use it - in fact I don't there is one dentist in this area that does and even if they did, they're probably not taking any new patients!  God yes, I get shots and I'll kep asking for them until I am completely and droolingly anesthetized! LOL  I can't understand how my wife would rather have her teeth drilled without a shot 'cause she's scared of the needle!  Not me - I wish they would know me out totally!  LOL!  Anyway, it's woman dentist and maybe she'll be gentler than some of the sadistic male bastard dentists I've had in the past.  Thanks everyone.  - Jim R

LOL Jim, don't count on tenderness due to her being female!  Worst any type of doc's I've ever had as far as tenderness and compassion were women...maybe they think they have something to prove, I don't know.

But request the gas, and hell, have 'im put a coupla shots of novacaine in yer head!  LOL j/k.

Or...can you use an abortive right before the dentist starts?  Might keep you from having an attack..??

Good Luck (i hate dentists) Sherry

My dentist is terrified I'll have a seizure and bite him.

He also got me to quit smoking...it's his fault I got a puter too. He's evil

Charlie - I'd like to bite dentists and I don't even have seizures!  LOL!  Hate 'em, although I know they're necessary (begrudgingly acknowledged...).  I'll probably smoke about a pack before I even get in the dentist's door Monday!  - Jim R

That reminds of a song we sang in camp when I was a kid...sung to the tune of O Christmas Tree:

O Tom the Toad
O Tom the Toad,
Why did you jump out on the road
You didn't seeeeee the coming car,
and now you're stretched upon the tar
O Tom the Toad, Why did you jump out on the road

O Tom the Toad
O Tom the Toad
Why did you jump out on the road
You didn't seeeee the coming truck
And now you're juuuust...A pile of muck
O Tom the Toad, Why did you jump out on the road

*taking a bow*

I see it's not just African nursery rhymes that is sooo cruel, here is one for you:

Simbamba, Mommy's baby
Simbamba, Mommy's baby
Turn his neck off
Throw him in a ditch
Jump on his head
untill his dead

This is a direct translation.
