Title: The HIGHS and other symptoms Post by LTBulllitt on Sep 16th, 2002, 6:22am That feeling after an attack if you have taken Imatrex and are 100% cleansed of pain! I have my emergency needles as I call them, usually only 2 or 3 b/c of cost for when I feel I won’t be able to make it this time. So tonight I had to take one. Now that grand feeling, that euphoria. Do others feel that rush so intensely? . It’s not the Imatrex, it’s just having no pain for those few hours. No aftershock. The music on the radio, no matter how bad the song sounds beautiful. That Lenny K. song, Stillness Of Heart was playing when the drug washed away the satanic seraph and the melody was so beautiful. Damn, I wish I had this feeling more than once or twice. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts, try to watch Cabaret or something decent to eat. Do your other problems seem to eat away at your soul as much as the CHs even though by far it’s the ruler? And is it common for all these other problems to occur b/c of the headaches? Mine seem to add by the year. Anxiety a few years back that I have to take clonazepam everyday just to be able to breathe. Insomnia for months, literally no sleep. It can be the small things that destroy one. And the ultra violence nitemares when you can actually sleep. It’s a cross between Clockwork Orange and a Sam Peckinpah movie, even an Argento theme complete with Goblin score. Sorry, so much gibberish tonight and all the Q’s that prob have been asked a million times. It’s just a rare time for me right now to be able to type away and I don’t want to think about anger, despair, at least for tonight. I know what tomorrow will bring. Something wicked this way comes indeed. Love, Andrew |

Title: Re: The HIGHS and other symptoms Post by Jim R on Sep 16th, 2002, 6:46am Yes, Andrew, I too had the anxiety a few years back and for many years before that...serax, valium, and a few others. Insomnia now and then, but never slept a lot. CH's for 23 years (episodic) and lots of drugs. But, alas, I am not yet prescribed imitrex because of family heart disease (my mom, who died of it), although have a script for Amerge (another triptan in pill form) but haven't yet taken it for fear of what it might do to my coronary arteries. So, I do not frequently know the "high" of a fast PF relief. Usually when I am at the level of what others would take an imitrex shot, I try O2 and if this does work (and that's a BIG if), it's not fast, but rather gradual and if it doesn't work, it's percocet, which takes a while to kick in and only masks the pain that continues (but makes it more bearable for me) or it's off to the ER where they shoot me full of demerol and phenergan. So, things could be worse for both of us and we go day to day fighting the beast and count our small victories... Good luck. - Jim R |
