Well, hubby is hanging in. He did his first shot for the HepC yesterday morning in the doctors office. We are blessed with a great doctor/nurse to get us through this. His nurse is knowledgeable, compasionate, and friendly It made the whole experience a little less painful. (I am even thinking of getting a bumper sticker that says "I love nurses" ... NancyC, you are one of the ones I am loving !!!). We got his test results back and he still has an elevated cancer level so they will continue to monitor that. The treatment will last for 48 weeks, but hey ... we have the first one over with. If the treatment works, it will kill the HepC, which will stop the cirhosis, which will stop the cancer hopefully. At least that is what we hope.

The side affects from the treatment are brutal but so far he is handling it well. The "power pukes" that he got could have launched a space ship with their velocity !!!! Needless to say, I now have a new job .... cleaning up the bathroom a few times a day .... cause there is no way you can hit the target and keep it in the can the thrust is so violent. Chills, shakes, and being tired. Oh well, at least he hasn't gotten the "bulldozer headache" they told him he might get .... the nurse laughed when she found out I was on Imitrex for clusters ... she told us we could share the shot !!!! They actually do use Imitrex if you can't get rid of the headache with the Tylenol believe it or not. I told him I knew I got these clusters for a reason ... it was so that the medicine cabinet would be full of Imitrex for him !!!!!

Anyway, I continue to fair well, got hit twice yesterday (and used up two shots of Imitrex I should be saving for hubby ... but hey, its every man for himself when you start banging !!) I had only been getting shadows for a few weeks, but I am not gonna worry about the headaches being back so soon ..... I am attributing them to stress and leaving it at that. They will go away when they are ready. In the meantime I still have a supply of Imitrex so its not too bad. The pain is bearable.
It's the lack of sleep that will wear me down.

I'll try and keep you guys posted and stop in when I can. Thanks for all the emails and stuff I have gotten ... they help boost the morale.

sorry to hear about your husbands sides(not much worse than projectile vomit) i know your takin' good care of him & yourself. it'll work out, you'll see.best of luck to you guy's!!!! ............2late

Thank you guys for all the good vibes. He isn't sleeping real well, hence why I am up all night posting. I slipped him a mickey tonight (tylenol pm) and hopefully knocked him out. Hopefully, this will give him the much needed rest he needs and give you guys a break from me posting so much. LOL
