my kid wrote a poem titled: veterans & patriotism thought you'd like it :
When the soliders go to war their lives are at stake.
We count on them to bring us freedom, for our own sake.
Where there is war there is alot of fear and almost in every soul there is a tear.
In the few wars we had tons of bombs blew. When the fires were put out the American flag still flew.
We give you alot of thanks to this very day. God Bless You and the USA!

thank's for the great replies, he was 11 when he wrote it, 1 month after 9-11, it was part of "celebrate America" a program the kids put on at school. his poem was 1 of 3 read to the assembly. jonny.....thanks for the site bro' !
