Hi there everyone , I came on to the message borad a while back with a few questions....everyone was really nice to me and I wanted to let you all know that I finally have a true diagnosis and that is Trigeminal Neuralgia it is a nerve disorder which has very many options for treatment but none that are that good. At the moment I am on Neurontin 1200mg a day and 200mg of Tegratol and also Lortabs and Percacet all of it for pain and the first two are still being increased slowly.If these don't work out he said that I would have to consider surgery and I might have to go through as many as 5 or 6 before 1 of them has any effect on the pain but still there are no promises..at least he was honest about it...Seems there are many beast out there that want to prey upon us when it comes to head and face pain...My symptoms were very simular to CH that is why I came here to talk to everyone...There aren't any places on the net with a forum for TN suffers so I was wondering if it might be all right if I come here for a shoulder to cry on now and again we all share pain and it's sad that we have to live like this...Thanks to everyone for being there for me when I needed it...

Sharon, I think I have seen a program about your condition and the surgury to correct it. I guess becouse the artery is wraped around the nerve that a vascular constrictor like Imitrex won't help. The lady on the program had constant extreame pain running down her face and had to be on large amounts of pain killers which barely helped. She had surgury and it gave her some relief but not complete pain free living. Is your pain constant? After watching the show I realized that there are worse things than CH. I can't say wheither you will be excepted or not. I think pain is pain. I found out that I have Cluster/Migraine syndrome. It must be true becouse I had my first migraine today. I am feeling funny after the attack and am spelling worse than normal today. By the way did you use to be Sharon1970 ?

The first step is getting a good diagnosis. I'd check all the TN sites that Mel was gracious enough to link in here, but you can cry on my shoulder anytime you need to, sweetie! Good Luck!

I won't chase you away either. Other sites may be of greater value to you, but there are many on this site that will give you the ear that you might need in times of dire straights.
