Title: My cluster headache in the movies!
Post by DJ on Sep 7th, 2002, 1:46am
I just got done watching "Blade 2" and realized Hollywood has nearly captured what my cluster headaches looked like for the past 17 years!  BRAVO for them!

This is almost exactly what my headaches have been like with a few exceptions....

1) unlike this :26 second clip, mine usually lasted 1-2 hours (un-Imitrexed) one to five times a day, instead of just once and it's over with.

2) take all the bubbles and "spew" and put them right in my temple instead of crawling up the neck on the opposite side of the head.

3) mine took 5-10 minutes to go away instead of 5 seconds like in the clip (but the depiction of TOTAL PAIN to TOTAL NORMAL in a short period of time is realistic).

Other than that, this is exactly what my family (particularly my ex-wife) had to watch me live through for the past umpteen years.

Click the link below to see what my cluster headaches are like:

You will need the newest version of Windows Media to view the clip so if you don't have it, you'll need to upgrade.

How someone could type a message to the board during something like this, I'll never understand.....  anyway....

DJ......I wasn't able to access  this, but I know what you're going through anyway.   I don't know how anyone can type while having an attack either.  DJ you are our hero.  Hope you know that.

That was almost perfect DJ.  Man wish they could actually capture one of us during an attack to use in a hollywood horror film (except the camera would be doing a colonoscopy if it was me they tried to video).

Although I did take a picture of myself last night at Melissa's request with my ice packs and veggies tied to my head.

Linda, the typing actually helps me do the exercise that Charlie and you and some others encourage.  As long as I keep my eyes closed.  Good thing I'm a touch typist or it would all be gobbledy gook.

DJ, thanks for posting that, it was nice to see someone else in pain instead of one of our family LOL

Cat

hmmm wonder if I can make that happen to a few neuro's......

Right onDJ ...Thats the way they have been with me also. From start to end the pain starts at a 10 level always and ends with a 10 level. I might have about a three minute warning and belive me thats not long enough a warning. I can hardly hold my imitrex in my hand to give myself a shot much less get on the computer.

Damn thats a great clip!!!

Too bad the moment couldn't be stretched to at LEAST an hour long.  I agree on the perception of the pain.  That dude yells out from the agony, I just thrash about and moan extremely loud, LOL.  (NO comments on THAT one!)

;D

Hey, at least I was nice enough to leave this sentence out of it:
"Too bad the moment couldn't be stretched to at LEAST an hour long."

Yikes!

Martha Stewart's cellmate or Jim Traficant without the rug?

You're right it's on the scary side.......but then so is CH. Not far from the mark DJ.
