Title: CH and BPD Post by Geo on Sep 2nd, 2002, 1:07pm Hi all... I'm an old poster who hasn't been around in a while- And happy to say that my CH has FINALLY gone into remission after 12 years! I've only had two bouts of CH in the past two years which lasted for 1-3 months. Lately I've only been getting VERY sporadic auras which don't seem to bother me much at all. Having said all that, I would like to ask everyone a question. I've recently found myself doing some research on BPD[Bi-Polar Disorder], and noticed mention that one of the primary initiators of flares of this condition are attributed to high or low levels of seritonin, which is also noted to be a factor in CH. How odd, since I happen to have been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder back in 98 and for awhile was taking depakote. I recall mentioning to the psychtherapist that I had CH and he in turn mentioning that depakote may be helpful in supressing CH. Of course that never happened really, and besides I know now that its more helpful for migraine, not cluster. Anyway, I'm now curious as to whether or not my dysphoria could have precipitated by my headaches, or whether or not it may be possible that persons suffering from CH could over a period of time with the condition develop dysphoria? Is there anyone else out there who happens to be bi-polar? |
