Title: BUMMED Post by Jim R on Aug 29th, 2002, 8:14pm After three days on my new drug regime of doubled dosage of verapamil (480 mgs/day) and Topamax (200 mgs/day) and three PF days, I get a CH tonight that is boring into my teeth, shooting down my throat, stabbing at my temple, and throbbing behind my eye. I can't seem to completely shake it - even with O2 . I am getting really discouraged. I was holding out a lot of hope for the increased verap. if not for the Topamax. Well, maybe the neuro will try something else when I go on the 3rd... PFDAN's to you all. Jim R |

Title: Re: BUMMED Post by Kilo on Aug 29th, 2002, 8:56pm Sorry to hear the beast is still harassing you, Jim. I know it's discouraging, but hang on. When verapamil starts to kick in, it sometimes begins by decreasing the frequency of headaches. In other words, if you normally have them every day, they might change to every other day, then every third day, and so on, until they recede altogether. Glad to hear you had some PF days, and I hope you'll soon be free of the beast for the duration. Kilo |

We are neighbors and this might mean nothing but I also had been having a couple of good days and then that front came through last night and BAM I got nailed also. I don't know if weather is a trigger for you or not but it sure is for me. Just a thought Chris L In rainy, cloudy Maine |

Title: Re: BUMMED Post by Jim R on Aug 30th, 2002, 3:44pm Thanks everyone. I had to work today (I have the type of job where I don't have to work out of the house every day) and I didn't have a CH! But this Topamax has some strange side effects - when I'm driving and passing a car - man, dizzy and a strange tunnel vision thing happens - probably dangerous...and I feel wiped out and old, but maybe that's from fighting the pain. I hope you're all doing well and are having PFDAN's Chin up everyone (me too!) Jim R |
