I am on the phone with Donna right now. She found out she has....Lumbar spondylosis surgery is up in the air at the moment! She is going for pain management for awile, then will make a decision about surgery because of the expence. In the mean time she will be unable to be on the internet, she is having to cut all expences to the bone right now.
She sends her love to all!

I've got spondoliothesis too. If you talk to her again tell her the surgery isn't reccomended unless the slippage is so severe that she generally can't walk. Or is approaching that stage. Mine's just stage 1 slippage and my doctor told me to get the surgery. My second and third opinions told me I have a better chance of paralysis from the surgery then from letting it progress, although neither of them had big odds of paralysis. So, make sure Donna knows to not have surgery unless it's stage (I think that's what they call it. This was 10 years ago) 3 slippage.

Listen to Ted! He makes sense. Back surgery is iffy at best. My neighbor is worse now than she was. The surgery probably did more harm than good. She's an RN as well. Nasty stuff.

Best wishes to you Donna - We all hope things get better for you.

I had the back surgery two years ago April. I had to have the surgery because I couldn't walk, and the pain of the sciatic nerve was unbearable. I ended up being pain free (after recovery) for about three weeks. Then I had about a year of regular severe pain (worse than pre-surgery), although I could walk. For the past year I have been back pain free, although the nerve has never completely healed and I still have a bit of a limp. I would do the surgery again, only because I would have been crippled if I didn't.

Talked to Donna today...she is in alot of pain but has pretty much decided not to have the surgery, cost and all is really high...i am mailing her a free month of AOL disk so she can come back online for awhile...then we will work on something else to keep her here with us...she sends her love to all of you..keep her in your prayers...Think i may get her down to SC soon..i hope so..she needs a vacation from all she is going thru... :Dnancyc
