I am having a small problem quiting smoking. I have cut way way back. I also have changed the way I eat now. It took one visit with Jackie and when I came home I was eatting better. Three meals a day. I even cook dinner ;-)!!!! I don't drink ! My grandbaby will no longer let me sit at my computer for any amount of time. When he is awake and I come to the computer he pulls my arms and turns my chair untill I get the point and go do my daily excersice, I crawl a lot on the floor with him, he rides my back and we run all over the house he likes that. In the afternoon He and I are play ground buddies. When you get to be my age Hub you don't have sex you just talk about it!!! Its nice to have a life again ;-)!!!!! |

I rarely drink and I am extremely active with a full time job , a kennel business at home that keeps me busy and moving and I walk almost everyday all year round. I rarely watch TV and I am up at 5:30 AM most days and on the go until I hit the pillow around 10 PM. I am single so I take care of everything myself. A sedentary life I do not have. I cannot stop for my CH's. The kennels need to be cleaned and the dogs fed and exercised. My full time job is 24/7 on call and if the phone rings in the middle of the night I have to deal with it. I am lucky I work from home with all the necessary elements at my fingertips for my job. Thank goodness for O2 and Imitrex. It just makes life a bit easier!!! Chris L |

Title: Re: I wonder Post by catlind on Aug 28th, 2002, 12:40pm I don't drink, and don't do drugs, the only drug I take is Celexa (anti-depressant as a preventative and anti-depressant). I do smoke, and have been told many times by Dr's that is a big no no that it will worsen and trigger CH's. Although during the 2 years I was smoke free the CH's started. I was always fit - I was pregnant with my last and swam at the pool doing 50 laps 3 times a week. The CH's started in earnest 4 months after he was born. I also have a Interstitial Cisternal Herniation (pituitary gland with a hernia) so who knows if the hormones triggered my CH's to go full blown. Yes exercise diet and healthy lifestyle will help EVERYONE with almost ANY illness or physical problem, that doesn't mean it is the cure for CH's. It is a step we can all take to make the demon less demonic perhaps, but I don't believe that's all there is to it. Cat |

Probably not a cause but so much easier and cheaper as well. I drink very little. When I first encountered this thing, I was 23, very thin, and most of my machinery worked well but for the electrical storms in my brain. With me, CH developed about 10 years after my effen seizures. When I was first diagnosed years ago the Dr. said there was some thought they a blow to the head or head trauma may precipitate CH's later on. Now that was back in 1976 and I don't know if that is still a viable option for CH's to manifest themselves or was just a grasping of straws. Interestingly, in high school, I fell off a bleacher being stupid (dancing on it) and fell about 6-7 bleachers down, hitting just under the corner of my left eye. I had a concussion and the cut went all the way down to my cheekbone. Of course all the years I had CH's before I went into remission I thought that might have been the cause. What brought them back all these years later? Who knows!!!! My Ch's are on my left side though. Thanks Chris L |

CH also involves 5HT levels. Bob P talks about the possibility that it is there is a direct link between 5HT and CH AND the little dirty habits clusterheads seem to be more succeptible to. I think the SHOE FITS quite nicely. Here is Bob P's question: What IF the same screwed up thing that gives us CH ALSO plays part in our desire to drink and smoke (and all the other bag a worms). If you look back in posts dealing with drinking, smoking, etc. you'll see the discussions. We keep trying to find anything in our history that caused us to have ch (head trauma, surgery, dental work, etc.). Perhaps that 5HT was there all along and we are looking in the wrong places. :) |

A new employee is hired at the Tickle Me Elmo factory. The personnel manager explains her duties, and tells her to report to work promptly at 8:00 AM. The next day at 8:45 AM, there's a knock at the personnel manager's door.The assembly line foreman comes in and starts ranting about this new employee. He says she's incredibly slow, and the whole line is backing up. The foreman takes the personnel manager down to the factory floor to show him the problem. Sure enough, Elmo's are backed up all over the place. At the end of the line is the new employee. She has a roll of the material used for the Elmo's and a big bag of marbles. They both watch as she cuts a little piece of fabric, wraps it around two marbles, and starts sewing the little package between Elmo's legs. The personnel manager starts laughing hysterically. After several minutes, he pulls himself together, walks over to the woman, and says, "I'm sorry, I guess you misunderstood me yesterday. Your job is to give Elmo two test tickles. |
