My ch seem to have gotten worse
This last cycle lasting 10 years.
Have had maybe 100 pfdn in this period.
I quess you call this a cycle or am I  to accept the fact this is how I live the rest of my life. No sleep and walking in a daze, with this numb feeling all the time.
Did I mention my ch's hit during the days too.

It's a cycle, Mustang. Never accept this is how it'll be for the rest of your life. If you do that then the terrorists have won. Or something like that.

My last one was not too bad.  Shorter and less intense than previous ones.  I think the worst cycle I went through is the one where I tried the imitrex nasal.

I do no meds now, went without meds for longer than I used them.  My opinion and body only, but I think the meds make it worse.

This is definitely the worst - pure agony -  ever in 24 years and I have long, e.g. 6 month cycles.  Jim R

Worse, had cycles for 3 to 4 months with a peak at 7, This cycle 9's and 10's for two months. Must be something in the air.

This being my fourth cycle is definately, by far, worse.

Used to only get 1 maybe 2 hits a day.  This cycle as many as 8.

They get worse, last longer in duration, and happen in daylight hours now.  They just suck.

I'm with everyone else here they are getting worse, longer, and into my daylight hours, I am getting more of them too.

I usually forget about the cycles when they end, so I can't remember whether they are better or worse from the last cycle.  I can say this cycle affected my sleep more than the past.  I had at least one kip 8 or better  everynight between midnight and 3 am!  hard to abort one when it goes full throttle before it awakes you!   :-[

Had a breather for a while.  Weather is changing - now preparing for the usual run.  I toggle from chronic to episodic.  Is that possible?

(I figure if I go two weeks without one I move to the episodic side, longer than 3 months without a 14 day or longer break I become chronic). ???

Feel free to correct me if I have my head up my ass.  :o Hey it happens.

Your right Slammy about getting hit with the hard ones at night. Now that mine are taking over my daylight hours too, everyone one thinks I am really crazy when they see me run like a bat out of hell for my 02.
Well better crazy than in pain, right?

Mustang,

you got that right, but I am fortunate that when I feel a CH coming on during the daytime, the cafergot I take works well to abort it before I would need to turn to O2.

I usually only have to use O2 when I get the lil fuckers that awake me in the middle of the night.  The o2 aborts a full bore cluster faster than the cafergot, while the cafergot aborts  the cluster more effectively when I get the tightness feeling prior to it starting.... kinda like a warning sign:  Warning!  Cluster Headache ahead!

Better.

First 20 years they were pretty much the same.  6 week cluster every 8-9 months, 2-3 ha/day.

Last 12 years the remission gets longer each time, the attacks more predictable and also more treatable.

Last cluster was bad probably because I was trying so many new things and fighting with insurance and a new neurologist.  Tried all the triptans, topomax, shrooms.  Felt compelled to try it all for the sake of experimentation.  Wound up back with cafergot and O2.  Cluster lasted 15 weeks as comapred to 5 weeks the previous one.

Next time I'm going straight to the O2 cafergot combo and not worry about the rest.

May try Elavil as a preventative since verap doesn't work for me.

My doctor gave me cafergot once they really helped.
Like you when I felt them coming I would take it and it would not come, then he decided topamax was the  drug for me to take. I could not take them they made my ch's feel like 15 on the kip scale[ I know it doesm't go that high, but it felt that much worse]. He decided that he would not treat me any more, referred me to someone else[ that was in May] my appt. with new doc is Sept3. I have been in real trouble for the last two months or more, have lost track of some time cause of lack of sleep, and pain in head, tried to call old doc for help and have heard nothing. [have called him about 6 or 7 times]. For the first time in my life I am looking forword to seeing a doctor, kinda like waiting for
Christmas when we were kids. Just hope I am not dissappointed.

Mine are better much better. The last two years are the first time in over 20 years I went more than a week pain fre. I had months off as many as three. The pain is less and the attcts come less.
I did not find any relieve till I came to this web site. A lot of studying and listening to what people who had clusters said.
Mine are 75% better!!!!

Mine were always the same. They only changed when they became scarce about 13 years ago. Two years later they were gone.

That's the kind of change I want everyone to experience

Current cycle started in May/June and appears to be winding down. Was difinitely manageable at pain level having 1-4 nightly wake up calls but always woke before Beast roared to a 10. This cycle started after being in remission for 4yrs. There  were 20+ previous yrs of no goodness. Ugh. Hope the addage that "older is better" applies to CH as well. Never had the advantage of this site until current cycle and I know it has been a positive in my life.

I am having a very strange episode this time.  Started this last Sunday 8am to 9:30am.  Monday 8am to 9am.  Tuesday had the shadows on and off all day.  Now it has stopped.  This has never happened to me befor.  There is no way I want to get the hope that my tour in hell is over already.  I'm afraid if I do the beast will come back with a vengence and drag me back to hell.

Just joined , reviewed your messages:

Imitrix is expensive but covered by most insurance.  However you may need to have your doctor intervene/write one larger than normally allowed (insurance companies think in terms of migranes and not cluster headaches).

I have gone through all avaiable drugs/treatments over the last 25 years and Imitrix injections are the only bright spot  ... at least gives the option of sanity; stopping/delaying a bout, which is more than anything else has provided.

Of course is not final answer when dealing with 5+ headaches a night, but the best available.

O2 actually stopped working for me.  Helped minimally (but better than anything else) for a number of years though, so good luck.
