Are there any warning signs to tell if a cycle is coming up and also how bad it will be?  IS the pain usually stay the same.

Over 20+ years of episodic CH's and my personal records identified cycle usually started during a specific month but not how severe it would be. I came to recognize when my body had a significant histamine release---I feel fluid in my mouth that was unusual. Then the shadows started and finally the wake  up calls from REM sleep.

I can notmally tell when a cycle is about to start, because I'll get some nasty mood swings.  I think it's different for different ppl though.

The way I know that the beast is making his entrance is that my shoulder and neck on cluster side start to stiffen up.  I'm there right now.  Can't turn my head properly on left side.  Going to try and get an appointment with massage therapist today to try and ward him off.  Wish me luck! :(

hugs
Ann

Approximately 50% of the times I get a drooping/twitching eyelid on the cluster side, it will be followed within a few weeks by a cluster episode.  As far as I can tell, there's no way to predict the intensity of the HAs, though.

Ann, has massage helped keep the beast at bay in the past?  Hope it helps you this time!
