Sorry you are depressed..........it's hard when a loved one leaves for a while. I'm divorced and when my one and only son left for college it was the first time in 17 years that I had been alone. Thank goodness for all my animals that kept me company!!

Keep your chin up, we are here for you and he will be back!

Cat,
how long is he gone for??
Mine is in Colorado for a few days, then when he gets back, he goes to Dallas, then Phoenix, then.....

I kind of am getting used to it.

You can always call me.  Even in the middle of the night.

I'm usually up anyway.

Thanks Debbie, I appreciate that.  He's USAF and he's deploying for 5 months.  It's hard not to be selfish and whiny and want to cry over his absence, even though I know he's going somewhere safe, and the reason he's going is so he doesn't have to do his 2nd Operation Enduring Freedom tour over Christmas.

He's a meteoroligist, and it used to be said that the weather guys were REMF's (rear echelon mother fuckers) LOL, and they always used to say if the weather guys have to aim their weapon the war is over and we lost.  Today's war seems to be completely different.  Many of our regular weather guys saw the front lines in Anaconda and were in the thick of things.  It looks like that will be the trend from now on, so it makes things a completely different story when you are a wife waiting.  I've always had it easy compared to other military wives waiting on their hubby's because mine was always at the rear.  In OEF he was closer to the front than the rear.  That's probably because we are stationed with the Army in army support, so when 10th mountain goes forward, so do the AF support for them.  We have one guy here in the squadron who was in between one of the crashed helicopters and a rock, in a 15 hour fire fight with the taliban and al queda.  He took two rounds to the chest and one to the back.  His flack vest stopped the 2 to the chest and his radio saved his back.  At one point his buddy looked down at the grenade that fell in their fox hole and said "Thank God for duds".

It's a different world now, and wars are fought much differently than conventional.  This is more like a vietnam, except this time the politicians are doing what they are supposed to SHUT UP AND COLOR, and letting the men and women who know war fighting do their jobs.

Cat

Sorry....guess I got on a rambling roll

No rambling...very interesting.
One of my best friends was a meteorologist in the AF.  She was my roommate at Castle AFB, in CA
She is now in the guard flying C130's, and lives in RI
Her hubby was a tanker pilot, is out now and flies for American.  Was in the air on Sept. 11th.
My hubby is not military.  Just a computer geek for First Union Bank.  He is gone alot.
You can cry on my shoulder any time.
Deb ;)
