Title: Just wondering Post by mustang on Aug 23rd, 2002, 6:40pm Has anyone ever passed out from a ch. I know I have never, would have been a blessing. Just wondered why our bodies won't give us that relief. Then again I am assuming no one else has. |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by Mastifflvr28 on Aug 23rd, 2002, 6:49pm Stang, I have been wondering that for YEARS. I thought if your body was overloaded with pain, you'd pass out. why don't we?? why, why? :) Mast |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by mustang on Aug 24th, 2002, 1:16am Well thats one of how many. Did you pass out or knock yourself out from banging your head? Sorry about that but when your up for the 3rd time since 10:00p.m. with ch's and all 7-8 you get sleep deprived and slap happy. well it's now 2:19a.m. and the beast has calmed down let me get to bed before me 3:30 one hits. Damn shame when you realize you don't need a clock you just wait the ch's will let you know the time whether you want to know or not ;D . |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by Ann on Aug 24th, 2002, 8:52am I've never passed out but came close once last winter. It would have been a blessing except that I was at our cottage and I don't think my hon would have enjoyed the experience as much as I!! LOL Most people don't puke either..but I have on occasion as well. Who knows..this damn thing is just too different for so many of us! hugs Ann |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by Drk^Angel on Aug 24th, 2002, 9:14pm Okay... My theory on the whole passout thing... Ppl normally passout from pain, when the pain causes one to go into shock. Normally, it takes alot of stress on the system to cause the body to go into shock. It's a last ditch effort by the body to control the stimulation it is receiving. I don't believe that CH normally overwelms the system in this way. Yes, CH pain is severe and debilitating, but the stimulation to the system is within the limits of what the body can take. But... If the pain of CH is complicated by other disorders, or something the aggrivates the CH beyond normal perameters, then yes, the needed stimuli is aquired to cause the body to start into shock, and cause one to passout. Okay... Now it's time for ppl to pick apart this theory, point out the mistakes (and just plain guessin' on my part), but maybe someone can fix it into a viable theory. PFDAN................................. Drk^Angel |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by gtar_man on Aug 25th, 2002, 12:34pm I've never passed out either, but I agree with Ann; the beast affects ppl differently. My Ch seems to be in some kinda weird chonic phase where I haven't had any real zingers in about a year but I have CONSTANT forehead/facial pain that goes up and down but never leaves; never wakes me at night, and responds to NO meds. Well, haven't tried Lithium and a few others but from reading the side effects I don't WANT to. I've just recovered from shroom dose #3 and am waiting to see if it's helping... |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by mustang on Aug 25th, 2002, 12:43pm The last few days I have had the forehead and face pain, but along with I have the real head bangers at night and day. The night ones are the worst because I wake up when they get real bad. The day ones I can get to the o2 faster. This has been going on since May I have not been on meds since then because I am waiting to see a new doc. on Sept 13. :'( :'( |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by Riccardo on Aug 25th, 2002, 4:31pm Dark Angel, I never passed out in 25 years of CH. But your point is good. You say:"Normally, it takes alot of stress on the system to cause the body to go into shock. ........ I don't believe that CH normally overwelms the system in this way. " I think that's because the attack start slowly (slow enough to let the body to avoid the shock, I mean) I am sure if we can reach the 10 Ks in few seconds, we can pass out..... but ...... sigh..... impossible. A friend of mine, that suffers from trigeminal neuralgia, experienced the passing out many times. (The pain is the same of CH, but rises and ends in few seconds) Ciao |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by Slammy on Aug 26th, 2002, 11:52am 28 years with clusters... never passed out.... never went to the ER. While the pain has been so terrible I've thought about ending it all, I never went to the ER because it would be useless. By the time someone would see me, the cluster would probably end. I would also have to sit in a waiting room with a bunch of people, which would suck. I would have to answer questions which would suck worse. Just give my little corner of dark, empty space and let me ramble.... it too, will pass........ Slammy 8) |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by oringkid on Aug 26th, 2002, 2:41pm My story is very much like Slammys. 29 years with CH never passed out, never went to ER for same reason. Never vomited (knock on wood). I don't do meds, so, I figure Riccardo is right about the slow crescendo keeping us from passing out from shock. But I think if you have other things going on with you and are using some meds passing out could be a problem. Sherry |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by echo on Aug 26th, 2002, 3:32pm Can't say I ever passed out from the CH it's self. I have OD'd myself on several occasions. Didn't stay out very long, kind of like REM sleep, the bastard lives there and slapped me around big time to pay me back for my efforts. |

Title: Re: Just wondering Post by Kilo on Aug 26th, 2002, 6:37pm Well, never passed out from a CH, but I damn well could have from the kip10 the other day--if i'd been able to stop running from one end of the house to the other long enough to lose consciousness! It wasn't the pain that made me woozy, though; it was the Imitrex. Passing out during a CH doesn't seem possible to me. It would be like going to sleep in the middle of the Battle of the Bulge. Sure would be nice, though. Kilo |
