6 years ago. I was 17 years old. Sorry to hear you joined the club at only 14 years old.

Are you using  medication yet? For me O2 and Imigran (believe its called Imitrex in US) are great aborters. Starting on Verapamil, but isn't working yet.

Good luck.

Hi Owl
First of all welcome to Clusterville.
You are among the best of friends here, and i strongly believe that you can find all the info that you need.

"General Cluster and his beasts"started visiting me in the late 80s.
If i remember correct it took about 4 years from the first attack until i had the diagnose. You have to believe me when i tell you that these 4 years was HELL and only that.

After i found this site i`ve got a new life .We are in it together.
Finally  i tell you a little bit of my miraclecure to kill the pain/cycle
I just wont to add my medications for breaking out of cycle. But remember that i`m not a doc, just another clusterhead from Norway

Verapamil Retard 120mgX5-7/daily during cycle
Oxygene alone at 10ltm for 15 minutes or combined with imitrex-shots does miracles. The shots should start working in 6-9minutes.a few secons after that you are almost painfree
Prednisolone in high doze for 10 days 80mg
then over a 3 weeks periode step down like 60-40-30-20-10-5mg /daily

This is the miraclecure for me,but i`m not a doc.just another clusterhead from Norway

Take care my friend

Svenn

*sigh*  I also started getting CH when I was 14.  It coincided when I also lost my virginity!   ;D

Being a strong Catholic, I thought is was a payback from God,  but man!  she was worth dying for :D

First real cycle for me started this past New Years week...have not gone more than 2-3 days pain free this year.  Looking back, I had several very short cycles starting around the age of 17, but ignored them.  To follow up on Slammy's post, unfortunately my cycle always began with sex as a trigger...

Since the beginning of time... At least that's what it seems like.  About the only thing I remember real clearly from before like age 12 or thereabouts is the attack I got at school when I was 11.  Fun fun fun.

Me, I started @ age 31. A late bloomer of sorts--and for the record I was born in '62.  :o
But Owl-Baby, Math is good for you even if you deal with large nubmers like Avagadros (6.02x10 to the 23rd) or small numbers like the square root of -1 (yes it does exist--ask any engineer). Math is the power behind Physics and Physics is what explains everything in the universe.  8)
Let's see, you are in 10th grade...a sophomore...;D When you get through calculus you'll understand.
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.--TomM--

Title: Re: Ow
Post by Night_Owl on Aug 16th, 2002, 4:02pm
Yes...Calculus...Kill me now.  I barely passed algebra.  And Physics?  That's a hell no.

Title: Re: Ow
Post by TomM on Aug 16th, 2002, 4:16pm
I read that as a NFW on the Physics. Come on! Where's your sense of adventure?  ???
Enough of the philosphy.
Remember you are not alone and the power you have is to educate those around you about CH's.
Now take a close look at Slammy's picture...do you really think he got laid @ 14 ;D (toss me a softball and I'm gonna swing).
Catholic girls start much too late... :o but when they do start...whoa, Nellie! :D

1st off Tom...

I can't believe you are discussing Slammy's sex life with a 15 year old!!!!  Prevert!   :D

2nd.... She was not a Catholic Girl, Billy Joel... she was (is?)Episcopalian,  which is like Catholic-Lite!  ;)

3rd she was 16, ( Slammy liked older women in those days).

4th... You couldn't hit a pitch off of me even if I tossed a basketball to the plate!   ;D

You wanna play with the Slammy?

Let's Dance!    ;D

Slammy-Boy. You brought up your sex life with this young, innocent girl; not I. I merely commented on your boasting. ;) A little sensative, are we???
Trust me---nothing is Catholic-like. Nothing.
Now, back to your points...I don't dance with the male species.
I don't know where you grew up, but we never tossed a basketball to the plate...must be West Virgina style  ;D You like it easy just like the farm a n i m a l s. ;D

Hey, take it easy. I'm just busting your chops.

Did I?  I Didn't ask her to look at my pic and comment if I could have gotten laid at 14!

Slammy isn't sensitive Especially on the fucking internet. Slammy was not boasting about his sex-life, just the coincidence with the beginning of clusters and what I thought was happening!

I said Catholic-lite! like Diet Catholic!

From one night owl to another:

Woodstock started my clusters.....Yes I was alive then ,and the gulf war ended them.

That's 22 years and 11 without them so far.

I don't miss them, and hope you all join in the fun.

This is a great place.  Thanks for the laughs.  Mine started sometime around the age of 17 - 20, didn't know what they were until the mid 80's.  Hell during the early days when my eye hurt I smoked a joint and went on without a care.  During Nam I smoked many a joint and truly didn't care.
Answers:
4290 - who the h knows I'm 48 and still chugging along.
Owl - sorry to hear you're being hit at 15.  Hopefully when you get to be an old fart like me there will be a cure.
jonny -  remedial math?  You kill me!! ;D Keep your boot hostered, don't need it up my back side :o
Slammy Slammy Slammy -- my my my what can I say.

Sorry for chiming in so late.  This new job does not give me the time to converse like I used to.

OMG ...... reading some of these threads are GREAT   ;D

You know what I tell people the Monster feels like? Everyone has had "BRain Freeze" from Ice Cream. CH's feel like the worst brain freeze ever and it lasts for 1 -2 hours. Most can somewhat relate to that.

What a group!  I am so glad I found you all! :D

Brain freeze?  From what I've heard, clusters are worse.  Don't know personally... Never had an ice-cream headache.

I'm with you Drk.  Never had the typical "brain freeze" What I get from too much cold confection is just a dull pain in the back of my upper palate.  Same with my father.  I never knew some people got headaches til I was older.

Weird huh?

I thought for a while that it was something about my HAs that kept me from gettin' ice-cream headaches, but that was before I found CH.com, and found out that other clusterheads do get 'em.  Maybe it's some other structure that causes some ppl to be prone to ice-cream headaches while others are not.  :P

You have to eat ice cream in order to get "brain freeze"
headaches..:)

btw.. I get them, and while they are painful, they do not compare to a cluster....
