Title: Re: Why couldnt this be a cure?? Post by BobG on Aug 14th, 2002, 11:08pm "The hypothalamus is one of the most important parts of the brain, involved in many kinds of motivation, among other functions. The hypothalamus controls the "Four F's": 1. fighting 2. fleeing 3. feeding 4. mating It is also referred to as the "married man motivator" (the first 2 are only suggestions) Ted, I am a registered Republican. Not because I believe in the Republican cause but because, like most Demecrates, when I registered, I couldn't spell Democrate so I just put Republican. |

Title: Re: Why couldnt this be a cure?? Post by BobG on Aug 14th, 2002, 11:49pm Sorry iukid, thought it was a rhetorical question. Click this for a picture of the Trigeminal nerve. http://www.clusterheadaches.org/library/general/trigeminal_pic.htm Now click these for posts on the subject. http://www.clusterheadaches.com/wwwboard/messages/74124.html Rodger Griffin (1-11-01, Stereotactic Radio Frequency Rhizotomy) http://www.clusterheadaches.com/wwwboard/messages/100398.html Margi (7-12-01) list of posts about NOT having surgery http://www.allsands.com/Misc1/gammakniferadi_uux_gn.htm describes Gamma Knife Radiosurgery The answer is because all you have now is clusterheadaches. If you cut or remove the nerve you have will a numb, saggy face and still have clusterheadaches. The clusterheadaches will go away. A numb, saggy face never will. |

Title: Re: Why couldnt this be a cure?? Post by Drk^Angel on Aug 15th, 2002, 12:02am You can have the nerve severed... But it might not stop the CH. It will definately leave you with severe numbing. And severing the hypothalimus isn't really a food idea either. It's involved with so many hormonal functions, that you'd either die of a chemical imbalance, or wish you were dead... And there's no proof that it would even cure the CH. Dunno about you, but I'd rather not do any proceedure that is irreverseable, in case it didn't work. PFDAN........................ Drk^Angel |
