I ran a similar format message board several years back and it grew into an uncontrollable monster as I see this going. What happens is that everyone makes a new 'topic' for discussion and soon there are hundreds which are non-navigable.
My suggestion is to get perhaps 5 main sections and add new ones per request of user. Users can simply email you to approve a new topic under which others can post if in your opinion it seems germane. Topics like "Bob how are you" should be nixed, and quick.
