Zany and i went to see the Neuro yesterday...what a waste of time that was , we shoulda have gone shopping in Brighton, would have been much more fun . He didnt know anything about CH, apart from what he had read in Zany's notes, he wouldnt listen to what we were saying to him, he didnt even know the difference between episodic and chronic. Even when Zany said he didnt want any drugs that were gonna make him dopey, the neuro said that he would prescribe Lithium...ffs....he cant take that cos of the side effects and because of the job he does, and he cant take time off work to see how he reacts to it. so basically its a non starter. Oh and the other thing that he said was it wasnt possible for a CH sufferer to have more than 6 to 8 attacks in a day, by that point i felt like smacking him in the mouth, needless to say i didnt .

I know exactly how you feel, I went to my boyfriend's neuro appt with him and it was a total waste of time. Asked him a bunch of stupid questions, smacked him on the knees and elbows with a rubber tipped hammer. He didn't even look at the headache journal we had faithfully kept. I knew more about the condition then he seemed to. We've been to a neuro , headache specialist and his family doc and the best info we've received is right here!!!

There are a lot of people here with good neurologists. Ask on the General board for reccommendations in your area - I'm sure you'll find one who is knowledgeable and has more personality than a dead clam. Brew's neuro is like a member of the family - a very important member!

Hang tough all. Sometimes you just have to either shop neuro's or work hard to educate them. When Joe see's his as new series begin, he takes anything new that he's learned to review and leave with the Neuro. I read the comment about Lithium. I have to tell you that it has been SO SUCCESSFUL for Joe. They regulate his dosages, could differ with each series. He goes in for bloodwork a few times when he first goes back on it, to check the dosage levels. Once he's stablizied he mostly makes it through with lithium and O2. On a sad note, he's been edgy this week and last night he was shadowing. While we were at dinner I broke the news to him that his eye was droopy. Sigh. Seems like we just got over a very long series, looks like they're on their way back.

| Oh man - I hate to hear that. Please make sure he knows the brewcrew clan is vibing and praying hard for the beast to stay away. We love him dearly.
