Hi... We burried our friend... Sadness overwhelmed us. He was the type of guy that would never sit in the sun because he was Irish off the boat and had the most gorgeous skin... Not a wrinkle donned this milky skin as he lay in the casket. He looked as if he would open his eyes and say Hey Ree ree baby in his funny tone. It was torture to watch my son wrapped in his new uniform and wearing the proud barrett that he had just earned about a month before. It was wretching to watch my x husband carry the casket of his friend of more than 40 years. The finale of it all to see these two men that I have loved cry in each others arms. Painful to speak to my friends common law wife a Russian Imigrant who had burried her first hubby before coming to America with her two kids. Kids I might add that my friend had helped through school and many teenage experiences. Kids that had the strength to stand up and speak in my friends behalf... I was amazed to hear the stories, though I had many of my own "John" stories to tell of growing up with this guy. John had helped so many people in his short life. He lived life to its fullest. Watched each and every one of his siblings die before him (one brother in Viet Nam) and cared for his elderly parents til they also left our physical world. News paper articles about him sat in several Boston newspapers about this wonder of a man. He was a Harvard graduate, a local politician from a young age. a journalist, for years writing for news papers in and around Boston. He volunteered at shriners burn hospital and contributed to many causes and was quite generous. Once when I was first married to Michael I can remember John buying us groceries when we had a hard time making ends meet. Though he didnt have kids of his own he brought up many of our kids and the kids of his friends and family. Those kids were all there to tribute their "Surrogate Uncle John". I know I am rambling about a person that you all dont know, but this guy was always one to make an enterance. Had a sense of humor that would kill ya. I always looked forward to seeing him or reading his very opinionated articles. John also made a very impressionable exit from this world. The priest had said that you can measure a mans success in life by knowing whether he had made a difference in this world. Had John made a difference??? My God... Yes! He had... He had touched so many, and helped even more. That is how I will end this... are we making a difference in this world? It is not what we have or how much money we have. Life is so much more than that. But what we do while we are here, that totally counts. Live life, for life is for the living. Help each other and love each other. Make a difference!!! I hope I can even touch the success that my friend had achieved. His send off was great. Many people, many stories, many many tears. John I love you and I will miss ya buddy thanks for everything. Love Ree

Awesome tribute, Reebanana. You definitely made his journey here on earth all the more pleasant, as you do all of ours. He's watching over you all now. Find peace in that.
